Ohio State Game 2: Virginia Tech 35, #5 Ohio State 21 (Final)

13 combined touches for our tailbacks, only four players caught a pass.

Nearly 40 pass plays called... only four players caught a pass... and only one of those four caught more than one pass.

Excluding Michael Thomas, the Virginia Tech secondary caught as many JT Barrett passes as the Buckeye offense.

 

VT didn't have a scoring drive of more than 65 yards.

 

Most disapointing loss in recent memory by caliber of team,PT.spread and at home before 107,000 sleeping bodies in the 'Shoe"

 

After two games, it's obvious that Curtis Samuel and Michael Thomas need more touches!

If Barrett puts touch in that swing pass to Dontre, he's gone, well maybe...Dontre always finds a way to get tackled!

I'm just so frustrated! JT showed some youth but this offensive line is just awful! Elflein, Boren, and Price are garbage! Baldwin is not very good.

Seriously, we need to get Knox and Jamarco Jones reps so they will be ready next year. Hell, even Dodson has to be better than these clowns!

 

Feel like Hale should get some reps....can't be worse than Price right now, hell I'd consider starting Meech there if all else fails

 

Agree 100 % i would even consider Trout, Taylor or Lindsay how could they be worse ?? Herman better start changing his play calling,it's pathetic.

 

Honestly I'm not sure any spot on this o-line is solidified besides Decker, we need to rotate people in until someone proves they can play

 

And now a pathetic,miserable Kent State comes calling,that sucks,when we beat them 63-0 who the hell cares,but the 'Bearcats'might be a tough opponent,after yesterday i ain't takin anything for granted again.

 

I guess it could have been worse. Could have been 31 -0.

A buddy just watched the replay(was painful)here is his sumation
"The number of mental mistakes.lack of execution was absolutely appalling,indicitive in the first 1/2.missed pooprtunities and the second 1/2 lack of adjustments.I think that JT was by no means perfect but he was the least of our concern of this team,the O and D calls were very puzzling.
At times our coaches played timid mental focus and it filtered down to our players"This sumation makes sense to me.

Herman has hidden behind Braxton,now it's time to let it all hang out,no security blanket anymore,i'm really pissed with him.

 

I was drunk and pretty pissed at the moment. What I was referring to was the depth chart. Example starting at DT Bennett OR Schutt. I thought going into last week that was a bad sign. Especially for an offensive line.

 

I really need to rewatch this game... I have a suspicion that the O-Line wasn't as awful as we are all saying, but maybe it was.

To be completely honest, I would hate to be a part of that O-line when Barrett is holding the ball back there, and you have 6-8 defenders committed to the blitz on every down.

 

btw, the Curtis Grant play that I was referencing... There was a slow-mo replay, but I couldn't find it.

He basically follows the play to the sideline, but doesn't track the ball, or make a play on to hit the WR... Instead, he runs facemask-first into the WR (who catches the ball), and injures his right shoulder... Hate to say it, but this kid is just not OSU MLB material.

 

Agree! It's going to take another game of bad passing coverage by our LBs before a change is made if you ask me. I hope it comes this week because Kwon is getting hosed.This coaching staff held back on young talent last year. Hopefully that doesn't happen again.

 

In evaluating the plusses and minuses,plusses = almost bupkis(nothing)
Minuses= OL,secondary,special teams,kicking game,2 missed FG and kick off out of bounds,play calling sucked,7 sacks on JT,no new wrinkles,b ubble screen,reverses,TE a no show as a receiver.If Meyer doesen't get in Hermans $hit he is nuts,for to long T.H,. has hidden behind BM,time now to do things differently, when u have 2 OL who were on D last year starting,trouble follows,is the cupboard that bare ??why did we allow recruiting of good OL get this bad ??to me the season is kaput.

 

Just a round up of thoughts from the VaTech game

*Only bad sport for JT to me was him throwing int's on deep balls when he didnt see Safety 35 yards deep.
* Herman will not going away from speed option because it worked twice in about 15 calls. sometimes you just have to scrap a play
*Everyone talks about out WR's not getting open, but if we catch the passes JT put on them it would of been different story ( Victors write history)
*Too many times it took too long to get defensive calls in, there are 3 coaches doign hand singles and at time Tech caught us when we were still looking for call
*LJ's rotation may make some sense, but i think he rotates too much, i know its to avoid people getting tired, but there was time Bennett didnt need to be off the field, i dont care if schutt had a good camps
*Ash and Fickell took too long to adjust to the fact that the entire game on 3rd and long they ran outs a yard farther than first day. After the second time seeing it they should of adjusted
* if looks could kill Meyer would of killed the entire staff at times
* WTF why did the kicker kick it out of bounds after tying the game
*THANK GOD Spence is back this week, Miller/Frazier couldnt get the same type of rush Spence can, atleast they smartened up and Phatty's boy Lewis wasnt too bad
*Wilson, until he proves it wrong, in my book is now just HYPE. Always running up the back of defenders or outside of walls, and during tv breaks his blockers called him out
*Marshall and Samual need to be returning kicks
* Cory Smith....GTFO!!!!
* OL...well not much can be said that already hasnt, i think it shows as much as we have recruited well, how bad we have as well, no reason 2 DL should be asked to contribute to the OL especially one who's a senior. Baldwin is bad


I still love my Buckeyes though

 

and if Tech plays like that every game, they could be pretty damn good

 

They might win their div. but FSU will tke them begind the woodshed.
