According to media reports, the Memphis Grizzlies have guaranteed center Kosta Koufos contract for the 2014-2015 season for $3 million. Koufos, who was a first round pick by the Utah Jazz in 2008 after leaving the Ohio State Buckeyes program early, averaged 6.4 points, 5.2 rebounds and 0.9 blocks per game for Memphis this past season appearing in 80 of the Grizzlies 82 regular season contests.

Kosta Koufos, C, Sacramento Kings It was a forgettable week for Kings big man Kosta Koufos. After getting praise for his first two weeks of the NBA season with his new team, it was simply an abysmal last three games for the 7-footer. Koufos regressed in every single statistical category outside of turnovers, personal fouls, and his +/- rating. Quite frankly, that is what happens when you do not perform and start losing minutes. After averaging about 25 minutes per night coming into the week, Koufos only earned 18.3 in his three latest contests and has seen a decrease in minutes each night for the last five games. We'll see if this trend continues and it probably should if he isn't getting the job done. Because of the poor showings from Koufos, there is simply no reason to discuss his "best performance" because there isn't any worth acknowledgement. To make matters worse, Koufos has yet to receive a positive +/- rating this year. Let's hope he can get things back on track this upcoming week. Team Record: 4-7 Upcoming Games: Tonight @ Atlanta Hawks, 11/19 @ Miami Heat, 11/21 @ Orlando Magic, 11/23 @ Charlotte Hornets.
Kosta Koufos, C, Sacramento Kings No other former Buckeye put together a more dreadful week last week than Kosta Koufos did. It was very important that the 7-footer bounced back and put that in his rear-view mirror by giving George Karl and the Kings more quality play and he did. Somewhat inexplicably, Koufos was given more minutes and he promptly delivered by putting together his best scoring week since becoming a member of Sacramento. Koufos failed to reach double digits in just one game this week -- the six point game against Miami -- and sure enough, after mentioning it last week, Koufos was finally able to gather a positive +/- performance. All in all, the Kings big man was much more aggressive as he took the most shots in any previous week and was fairly efficient at the same time. Best Performance: This is a toss-up, but you have to acknowledge the first positive +/- rating for the 26 year old on the year. That came on Saturday when the Kings snapped a two-game skid by defeating the Magic in Orlando. Koufos dropped 12 points on 4-7 shooting (57.1%) and also a perfect 4-4 from the charity stripe. Yes, he did only secure five rebounds, but the thing that stands out the most is that he only committed one foul, which has been an issue for him this season. Team Record: 5-10 Upcoming Games: Tonight @ Milwaukee Bucks, 11/27 vs Minnesota Timberwolves, 11/28 @ Golden State Warriors, 11/30 vs Dallas Mavericks.
Kosta Koufos, C, Sacramento Kings Everything that occurred this week for Koufos can simply be traced back to one thing and that is minutes. In the games where he didn't receive over 20 minutes of action, he didn't put up very exciting box scores. But when he did get a game in which he played lofty minutes, he performed. Koufos, despite averaging just over 20 ticks per night, finished the week with 8.5 points and a little over seven rebounds per night. He also did get another double-double. Best Performance: On Saturday night, the Kings traveled to Texas and squared off against the Houston Rockets. It was the game in which Koufos received a nice chunk of minutes with 31 and he was effect in that time. It was an 11 point, 12 rebound, double-double effort from Koufos that earned this weeks best performance for the 7-footer. Just for good measure, a 55.6 percent shooting night as well as two blocks is also something to be happy with. Team Record: 8-15
Kosta Koufos After signing a four-year, $33 million contract with the Kings last summer, Koufos appeared in 78 games with his new team in 2015-16, averaging 6.8 points and 5.4 rebounds in 19 minutes per game. In 14 starts, Koufos racked up 11 points and 9.1 boards a game. One of the most interesting storylines over the NBA's offseason will be the fate of DeMarcus Cousins, the Kings' productive-but-mercurial franchise center. Cousins' production has never been in question, as the 6-foot-11, 270-pound behemoth has been named an All-Star in each of the past two seasons. But Cousins has seemingly clashed with anyone and everyone associated with the Kings over his first six campaigns in the NBA, and it remains to be seen how his relationship will develop with new coach Dave Joerger. Should Cousins be dealt in a blockbuster trade, Koufous could become the Kings' starter at center, or at least take part in a timeshare with Willie Cauley-Stein.

Kosta Koufos (PF, Sacramento Kings) On a Kings team vying for a playoff spot, despite only having 14 wins, Koufos has been a key piece to Sacramento's success. Tied for eighth in the Western Conference at 14-18 with Denver, Sacramento is looking to hold on to that final spot and Koufos will be a component to that process. Koufos is one of only three players on the roster to appear in all 32 games, starting in 28 of them.
