Big Ten offering recruits security of four-year guaranteed scholarship | cleveland.com Thoughts on this?
I agree. It's especially bad when you hear teams (SEC) cutting players on an annual basis because they aren't playing well.
Yeah, that doesn't sit right with me. Tress was good on his word about that. We may have had more depth in the past if he worked it like the SEC does, but I think this also helped him in recruiting with the prospect's parents...
I think it's a good thing.. you're asking these kids to put the balance of their life's hard work as student-athletes into your school and make a committed investment in your school's academics, your coaching staff, and your football program, the least you can do is make the same commitment back to them.
I agree that this is a good thing. I wonder though how air tight the "4-years" will be as there will probably be some sort of ways that either side can get out of the commitment.
This is the way it should be... But it's the way Ohio State has always approached it anyway. This rule needs to make it's way down south where it will actually do something.
I have no problem with the south not wanting this rule. I just don't understand why they haven't been forced to adopt it by losing high profile recruits... Maybe the B1G just hasn't done a good enough job of selling this to recruits... I mean, if you go into a recruit's home and offer a 4 yr scholarship, and just ask them to demand the same from an SEC school that refuses, they'll instantly know that you care more about their well-being than the other school...
