I would say I expect to keep the offensive explosio going, but who knows what Beck and Warriner will do. I do know we didnt run speed option at all vs Nebraska, so we may see it 10 times this week

I think I mentioned something about Curtis returning punts a while ago.. although I think it was more along the lines of it being situational when we're in need of a spark or big play.

    Urban Meyer Updates

+ Asked about coaching against former assistant D.J. Durkin, Meyer said you have to separate yourself emotionally for the games. "We're all professionals. We all coach our teams and move on." He is very proud of Durkin and he sees the trademarks of Meyer's program in what Maryland is doing. After a few weeks as his grad assistant Meyer knew that Durkin would be something in the coaching industry.

+ Meyer has studied Drew Brees and also got beat by Brees when Meyer was at Notre Dame. He sees that competitive spirit and efficiency in both Brees and J.T. Barrett.

+ The 2016 defense has great athleticism in the back end. Regarding the pick sixes, if you look back everybody deserves credit because "guys turn like their hair is on fire." The sideline return is always intense and the drive for blocks is immediate.

+ Keeping your team from overlooking a team that you're a heavy favorite against is part of the essence of coaching. Upsets happen every week and if you don't go into a game seriously, you'll be upset as well. They need a good Tuesday and Wednesday, and if they get that then they'll have a good Saturday.

+ Meyer has drawn upon his psychology degree a lot in his coaching career. More than he could have imagined.

+ Meyer doesn't necessarily believe the playoff committee should put too much weight on the score of a game. "I don't believe in that." It would encourage blowouts and that's not good for the game.

+ Jamarco Jones was committed to Ohio State when he visited Michigan State shortly before signing day. Meyer would prefer that players didn't do that, but that is their choice and what is best for the player should be the rule. They try to build relationships to keep that from happening, but sometimes it does anyway. Meyer said he talked to Jones' mom about 60 times that weekend. "I had her on speed dial non-stop."

+ Meyer is very pleased with Mike Weber. He's done a great job of blocking downfield. "I really like the development for a first-year player."

+ The wear and tear of playing two tough opponents back-to-back is very difficult to handle. "The wear and tear on the bodies is real."

    D.J. Durkin Updates

+ Looking forward to the opportunity at home this weekend. Should be a great crowd. This will be a big test. The guys are looking forward to it and looking forward to the week of preparation.

+ It's difficult for any team in the country to face tough teams like Michigan and Ohio State back-to-back. "We'll embrace that." They want to be one of those teams at the top.

+ Starting quarterback Perry Hills is "day-to-day right now." He's dealt with injuries all season long here and there.

+ There has been great response with recruiting. "No one has wavered. We're building." Recruits understand where Maryland is at right now.

+ Durkin recalled his time as a grad assistant under Urban Meyer at Bowling Green. It was his first job. It was hard work but enjoyable. Things he learned back then are still beliefs he utilizes today. He was recommended by a then-Bowling Green coach because Durkin was a player at BG previously. He was still there as an undergrad. He didn't even realize how fortunate he was back then for that opportunity.

+ The biggest thing about Ohio State's defense that jumps out is the team speed. Every level. "That pops off the tape as you're watching it." It's probably true for the entire team.

+ Durkin expects Maryland's 2017 recruiting class to be one of the best in the Big Ten.

I would say 'Beat Maryland', but that would be like saying breathe air.
