JOSH PETTY TRENDING TOWARD GEORGIA TECH
In three days, Ohio State will find out if it has done enough to land four-star 2025 offensive tackle Josh Petty. As of now, the forecast doesn’t look promising in that regard.

The Buckeyes made a late push in Petty’s recruitment, but his hometown team of Georgia Tech has been the team with the most momentum as of late over Florida State and OSU. Over the past few days, several national recruiting insiders have forecasted Petty will end up at Georgia Tech.

Our own intel aligns with those reports, as it would be a shock if Petty lands in Columbus at this point.

Josh Petty signs roster value deal worth $800K a year
Whenever we hear NIL mentioned in recruiting or even as part of a deal for an established collegiate player, it’s rare we actually get specifics when it comes to dollars and cents.

Well, that changed with 2025 four-star offensive tackle Josh Petty. Petty committed to Georgia Tech on Monday, choosing the Yellow Jackets over Ohio State and Florida State. I stumbled across a quote Petty gave to Georgia Tech beat writer Chad Bishop on Monday that was pretty eye-opening considering he was completely forthcoming about his NIL process, something most recruits don’t openly admit.

“Tech’s been very easy,” Petty told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “Tech’s been very cooperative and efficient with working on that. I needed that number to be fair. Tech went beyond and above and really have taken care of me.”

Again, that quote made me wonder what dollar amount would be considered “fair” in Petty’s eyes. On Wednesday, On3’s Pete Nakos reported Georgia Tech and Petty agreed on a three-year roster value deal worth $800,000 annually. From Nakos’ article, it’s not entirely clear if the deal could be paid out directly by Georgia Tech as part of the $22 million revenue-sharing pot per school as part of the house settlement which will be implemented in 2025, or as a true NIL deal from the school’s collective. Yet another thing to try and sort out in the NIL era, right?

Also of note, Nakos reports David Sanders Jr., who will commit on Saturday, is expected to command a seven-figure NIL deal.
