It’s been a wild week for Lakota East (Middletown, Ohio) offensive lineman Austin Siereveld.

Until a week ago, the 2023 interior offensive line prospect had only offers from Ohio and Toledo. Then, Michigan State offered on Oct. 27. Ohio State followed on Saturday when he was there for an in-person gameday visit to watch the Buckeyes’ 33-24 win over Penn State.

Cincinnati followed on Monday, then Kentucky and Illinois offered on Tuesday evening. Siereveld has only recently blown up in recruiting circles and does not yet have a 247Sports composite ranking. For the Ohio resident, though, getting offered by the Buckeyes was truly special for him.

With his parents in attendance, Siereveld was given his scholarship offer during a meeting with Ryan Day before Saturday’s game with defensive coordinator Kerry Coombs, offensive line coach Greg Studrawa and offensive line graduate assistant coach Kennedy Cook also on hand.

“I was really honored to be offered by them,” Siereveld told Eleven Warriors. “The fact that they offered me in person with Coach Day was really awesome too.”

Growing up in Ohio, Siereveld was a die-hard Buckeyes fan.

“I watched every game,” he said. “You could say it’s my dream offer ... Everyone in my community is Ohio State fans. Having them potentially supporting me would be great.”

The 6-foot-5, 315-pound offensive lineman first impressed Buckeyes coaches by standing out in drills during an Ohio State camp on June 16.

“When they told me to come back up for a second camp (I knew they were interested),” Siereveld said.

Siereveld returned for another camp later in the month, then attended the Buckeye Bash & BBQ with a plethora of other recruits in late July and attended the Buckeyes’ home opener against Oregon on Sept. 11. While attending both camps, Siereveld was told by OSU’s coaching staff they see him as a guard at the collegiate level.

“They really like my physical nature that I bring,” Siereveld said. “Also how I finish my blocks and my footwork.”

Despite the offer from his dream school, and even though Siereveld has already picked up a Crystal Ball projection to Ohio State from 247Sports, he isn’t in a rush to decide on a school and is willing to let his recruiting process play out. He said he’d like to make a commitment before his senior season starts, though.

    • Just one week after picking up an offer from Ohio State, 2023 three-star interior offensive lineman Austin Siereveld of Lakota East (OH) picked up an offer from Notre Dame on Saturday after visiting the campus in South Bend. The Buckeyes already have a few ongoing battles with the Irish on the recruiting trail for a couple of Ohio guys in next year’s class, and now they may have another battle brewing.

Four-star Ohio interior offensive lineman Austin Siereveld released a top six Thursday that consists of Ohio State, Iowa, Michigan, Cincinnati, Notre Dame and Alabama.

The 6-foot-5, 315-pound prospect camped with Ohio State twice in June, then returned for the Buckeye Bash & BBQ in late July. He attended the Oregon and Penn State games in the fall, receiving his offer from the Buckeyes during the latter visit in late October.

“I was really honored to be offered by them,” Siereveld told Eleven Warriors in November.

While Ohio State has been Siereveld’s favorite school since he was old enough to care about football, that doesn’t mean the Buckeyes are a slam dunk to land Siereveld, who is ranked as the 326th-best prospect and the 23rd-best interior offensive lineman in the 2023 class, per 247Sports’ composite rankings. Alabama is a strong challenger for Siereveld’s services, as he took a trip to Tuscaloosa for a game visit in mid-November. Luke Fickell and the Cincinnati coaching staff have also made a big push for the Middletown product.

Of course, lots has changed on the Buckeyes’ end since Siereveld was offered in October. Former offensive line coach Greg Studrawa and Siereveld had a strong relationship, while Kerry Coombs was his secondary recruiter on staff. Neither of them are employed by Ohio State anymore, though OSU offensive line coach Justin Frye visited Siereveld in person in January.

Siereveld does not have a set commitment date in mind and seems comfortable slow-playing his decision. It will be up to Frye and the rest of Ohio State’s staff to let Siereveld know he’s still a high priority on their board in the coming months.

OSU already has one interior offensive lineman committed for 2023 in Joshua Padilla, and there's lots of optimism Luke Montgomery will choose the Buckeyes next Thursday, though the four-star offensive lineman from Findlay is projected to play tackle at the next level and doesn't just profile as a guard or center, like Padilla.
