    J.T. TUIMOLOAU • 2021 DEFENSIVE END • SAMMAMISH, WASH. • ★★★★★
We've had Washington defender J.T. Tuimoloau at the top of our 2021 recruiting board for the better part of a year now. One of the more quiet recruitments in recent memory, the expectation has been that the five-star will likely take things beyond next week's signing day, but there's always a chance that he could end things on Wednesday.

Rated as the No. 1 player in the nation according to 247 Sports, Tuimoloau has said that he wants to take another round of visits before making a decision. That would likely include trips to Columbus and Tuscaloosa. The former teammate of Gee Scott Jr. has already visited Alabama. He has not made a trip to Ohio State. Could he pull a Denzel Burke and sign with a school he has yet to visit? It's certainly possible as Larry Johnson has done a fantastic job building that relationship. We'll see if anything happens to go down next week.

If he’s going to visit he will need to on his own dime, which he’s said he will if he has to. Honestly, I am not too worried because Ohio State was his leader even though he’s never visited. Plus, with the recent news of Bama likely getting Henry To’oto’o they would basically have to go tell a player to leave. Which Nick Saban would do in a heartbeat. But it’s just another hurdle that OSU doesn’t have.

It is complete BS that they are extending the dead period at this point..........

If he does visit, obviously coaches can have no contact.........

The plan is to visit on his own dime if it is determined they can't make an OV or won't wait until June to make an OV............

Makes absolutely no sense why they can’t make visits. Dead period is ridiculous.

Would Ohio State offer J.T. Tuimoloau a basketball scholarship?
The intrigue around the recruitment of J.T. Tuimoloau keeps growing.

The country’s No. 1-ranked 2021 prospect remains unsigned and uncommitted. He’s also apparently more than willing to wait through March, April or even May if it means he’ll get a chance to visit schools like Ohio State and Alabama in order to make a more fully-formed college decision. He’s beginning his senior season of football at Eastside Catholic (Sammamish, Wash.) High School this month, and since there’s no chance for an official visit before June, he’s completely in control of his recruitment from here on out.

That doesn’t mean the schools vying for his talents aren’t still working on ways to capture his attention.

For example: Oregon, one of the five programs still being considered by the 6-foot-5, 290-pound defensive lineman, offered him a basketball scholarship on Tuesday night. The Ducks are the second of the football finalists along with Washington to offer Tuimoloau on the hardwood. Would Ohio State ever consider doing the same?

I asked one source close to the Buckeyes about that. Quite simply, would the Ohio State football program work in tandem with Chris Holtmann and the basketball team to add an extra layer of spice to their recruiting cake?

    The answer: “Probably.”

Ohio State has very little interest in gimmicks or trying to keep pace with the recruiting tactics of other programs, so I was somewhat surprised by the response. I suppose when it comes to a talent like Tuimoloau, though, I shouldn’t have been. So then I wondered: If they would consider offering him, has there been discussion about that potentially happening yet?

“Not that I know of,” the source said.

But who knows what happens in the future. Ohio State’s basketball program is obviously pretty good, and the chance to play both sports in college would absolutely be interesting to Tuimoloau. Plus, there is one open scholarship left for Holtmann’s program for the 2021 class.

    Hmmm …
