Ohio State offers Georgia defensive back Jordan Hancock
Earlier this week, Lettermen Row introduced Georgia defensive back Jordan Hancock. He took the trip to Ohio State this weekend and left Columbus with a coveted scholarship offer in hand.

Prior to boarding his flight out of Columbus, Hancock told Lettermen Row that the offer was an “honor,” and we’ll catch up more with him when he’s returned home to Georgia.

A 3-star prospect right now, expect to see a healthy bump in the national rankings for the 6-foot, 175-pound Hancock as his junior year film opens the eyes of other programs around the country.

Jordan Hancock comfortable with Ohio State relationship
The Buckeyes impressed North Gwinnett (Suwanee, Ga.) linebacker Barrett Carter during his visit to Ohio State last weekend, a trip that came two weeks after his “brother from another mother,” teammate Jordan Hancock, was in Columbus.

Since his time in Ohio, Hancock has seen his phone blow up with interest. So, he’s tried to lay a little low because of that and the need to focus on his team’s playoff push.

“I’m almost caught up in school and really had to focus with playoffs coming up,” Hancock told Lettermen Row on Tuesday. “And my phone has been really blowing up, but it’s cool. That’s part of being recruited by these types of schools.”

The 6-foot, 170-pound cornerback was offered by Ohio State during his visit and said at the time it was an “honor,” and he’s still feeling the love from the Buckeyes.

“I felt really comfortable being in Columbus,” Hancock said. “It definitely had that ‘at home’ feeling. When most people say that ‘at home’ feeling, I’ve said to myself: ‘No way you feel that comfortable at a campus.’ But I definitely felt that way at Ohio State.

“Getting the offer from them in person touched me way more than getting it a different way. It seems like it will stick with me more. Ryan Day and Jeff Hafley were outstanding people. I loved being around them and I’ve talked to them four times since the visit.”

As mentioned, Hancock is close with Carter. And the two have discussed playing together in college, maybe at Ohio State. Hancock appears comfortable being the ringleader when it comes to that idea.

“We talk about it almost every day, if not every day,” he said. “I keep on bugging him about it saying stuff like: ‘Bro, you’re gonna love it up there [at Ohio State], it’s going to be one of the best experiences.'”

There are no next visits planned this season for the country’s No. 43-ranked cornerback. But he knows when he’ll return to Ohio State.

“There are no visits planned right now,” he said. “But I plan on going to the [Buckeyes] spring game.”

Jordan Hancock familiar with Kerry Coombs work
One of Jeff Hafley’s top targets at cornerback in the Class of 2021 was Jordan Hancock from Suwanee (Ga.) North Gwinnett High School.

The 4-star defensive back visited the Buckeyes in late October and told Lettermen Row in November that he was very “comfortable” in Columbus. Last weekend he visited Georgia, one of the many schools that have offered in him in the last three months as he’s risen from under-the-radar recruit to nationally-regarded prospect.

Hafley’s departure changed Hancock’s recruitment a bit — but not his opinion of the Buckeyes.

“It hurt having [Hafley] leave,” Hancock said. “But my opinion of Ohio State is the same. They told me they’d be hiring someone good.”

Ohio State did hire someone good, and Hancock is familiar with him.

“There’s no better feeling than to potentially be coached by the best,” he said. “So, I am very excited about him being hired.”

Coombs used to recruit the Atlanta area for Ohio State, and no doubt his relationships in that area will help him quickly get familiar with Hancock as well.
