Offer Out to Big-Time Wing Target
In order to continue the ascension of Ohio State’s program with the goal of competing annually for Big Ten titles, Chris Holtmann needs to land a steady stream of top-50 talent. The Buckeyes reeled in three prospects in the top 50 of the 2019 recruiting cycle, and they’re after several others in the 2020 class.

Moses Moody, a four-star shooting guard, announced Ohio State offered him early Tuesday morning. The 6-foot-5, 180 pounder is the No. 36 overall prospect in the country and the eighth-best shooting guard. He’s a high-level scorer and a sharpshooter from distance.

After growing up in Arkansas, Moody transferred to Florida’s Montverde Academy, the same school at which D’Angelo Russell starred.

Moody has strong ties to several players on Ohio State’s roster. Last summer, he and E.J. Liddell teamed up on Brad Beal Elite and were the two leading scorers. Moody also knows DJ Carton and Duane Washington Jr., among others.

Arkansas, Auburn, Baylor, Florida, Florida State, Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Stanford, Texas, Texas A&M and Tech Tech are among the schools that have offered him. Competition will be stiff, but Moody would be a coup for Ohio State.

Moses Moody has an official visit set
Four-star shooting guard Moses Moody has not yet taken a visit – either unofficially or officially – to Ohio State, but he expects that to change soon.

In an interview with Rivals, Moody said he has a date set for an official visit – likely in August – but wasn’t sure when off the top of his head. He mentioned that he likes the coaching staff and has a strong relationship with freshman E.J. Liddell, with whom he played on the Nike EYBL circuit in 2018.

Moody, the No. 40 overall prospect and eighth-ranked shooting guard in 2020, would be a major addition for the Buckeyes, if they manage to land him. They’ll have stiff competition for the sweet-shooting guard, though.

As an Arkansas native, Moody has had the Razorbacks after him for a while, and that pursuit is continuing under new coach Eric Musselman. He attends Montverde Academy in Florida, so naturally the Gators are also pursuing him. Kansas and Alabama also offered him scholarships in the past week.

In the interview with Rivals, Moody said he plans to take “a couple” official visits in August before narrowing his list.

    Four-star shooting guard Moses Moody
No. 40 overall, No. 8 shooting guard – Little Rock, Arkansas

Moody has never been to Columbus, but he plans to rectify that with an upcoming official visit to Ohio State, he recently told Rivals.

The 6-foot-5, 180-pound guard has connections with E.J. Liddell and Duane Washington Jr., which makes the Buckeyes an intriguing team for him. But in order to land the prolific scorer, they'll have to beat out both a blue blood and his hometown team.

Moody attends Montverde Academy in Florida, but he's a native of Little Rock, Arkansas, meaning the Razorbacks have made him a priority. Florida, Oregon and Kansas are also in the mix for him. In order to make itself a realistic possibility, Ohio State has to make a strong impression with him during the official visit.

Moody, a 6-foot-5, 180-pounds shooting guard, included the Buckeyes in his top seven along with Arkansas, Kansas, Oregon, USC, Michigan and Florida on Wednesday. The Arkansas native who plays for Montverde Academy in Florida is the No. 43 overall prospect and the seventh-ranked shooting guard in 2020.

The official visit to Ohio State will be Moody's first of the fall. He recently took an unofficial visit to Florida and, per Stockrisers' Jake Weingarten, is planning official visits to Oregon and Kansas.

Though multiple high-level programs have interest in Moody, the Buckeyes have an in with him due to the connections he has with a couple current players, which he explained to Eleven Warriors a couple months ago. Moody has a close friendship with freshman E.J. Liddell after playing with him last year for Bradley Beal Elite on the Nike EYBL circuit. He has also known Duane Washington Jr. for a while.

“Their main message is definitely relationships because I have a lot of relationships with the guys that's already there,” Moody said in May. “With me being a long scorer like I am, they say I fit perfectly in their offense.”

Ohio State has maintained Moody as a priority target for a while. This weekend's official visit gives Holtmann and his staff an opportunity to potentially position itself as a frontrunner in his recruitment.
