Well if they are getting paid they sure didn't earn their paycheck's last night. Who would pay Clemson players anyway?

How could he possibly have more resources at Clemson than he's ever had in his life? I though these guys were exploited servants to a corrupt system that treats these helpless student athletes like chattel?
Seriously though, that's a pretty funny slip. I don't think he meant what could/will be inferred, but funny nonetheless.

Reminds me of Marc Tyler saying you get paid more at USC than the NFL.

Maybe he comes from a really poor background and being at college on a full ride with essentially free room & board & food is a huge upgrade for him... ?

Let's cut to the chase regarding D1 athletes and money.
If they move out of the athletic dorm they rec. money/payment/stipend...
pending rent, they all should have a little extra to spend. Most know where to find an inexpensive apartment/house, etc...a good set up that does not cost a lot and split between 3-4 reduces rent...
Most still have access to cafe/meals...if you do not mind wearing nice sweats, latest greatest tennis shoes provided by either Nike, Addidas, etc, all you have to do is take your worn out pair to training/athletic facility and they are replaced...academic safety nets that are not offered to other students...I get sick of listening to the money bullshit discussion/debate.
Money asked for and "needed" is typically for cars, bling and other shit they do not need.
Simplify D1 athletic/academic entrance/schol. requirements with 1 academic standard for all D1 programs: Minimum GPA, SAT/ACT test scores and a standardized essay/entrance exam.
If athlete cannot qualify the school has to pay the cost of JC and/or CC in attempt to get the player eligible and must apply one of their athletic scholarships towards this student athlete.
This should reduce a lot of BS that goes on regarding conferences and programs that bring in players/athletes/students that should not be on a campus. In addition, if the school is financially responsible for the player, regardless of JC/CC and not contributing to programs succe$$, they may think twice about whom is brought on campus.
Seen and heard too much regarding this subject the last 20+ years.

Go Bucks!
I agree with this, but I would take it one step further and allow Student Athletes to seek commercial work in the private sector... I see no reason why the schools, sports companies, video games, espn, etc should be allowed to gain off of a student's image when the student cannot. Seems shady.
