Texas fills their class every year with in-state recruits and they usually fill their class before anybody else.

It still comes down execution, you have to be able to make plays at the college level.

Look at Notre Dame's previous class rankings too. They should be winning 10 games every year but so far that's not happening.

Mack Brown has to be the worst coach in D-I football. That dude makes $3 million plus per year. How he keeps his job, I will never know.

Their last two seasons have been dreadful, but weren't they just in the National Championship game? And it could be argued that if Colt doesn't go down, they pull out the win.

They also have the Vince Young Championship, with only two seasons since with fewer than 10 wins. I seem to remember them winning a Fiesta Bowl a little while ago to.

I can't explain last season, but this current season was the result of a lot of turn-around on their staff. They only lost to one unranked team (though they didn't beat any ranked teams).

Mac Brown saved UT football, even more-so than Jim Tressel did Ohio State. The previous two coaches at Texas went 72-54-2... Brown is 140–36.

BTW, Brown makes $5 mill+ IIRC

Mack Brown is a very good football coach. He was considered to be Coopers successor had Coop not defeated SCum in 94. Colt doesn't get hurt-Texas kicks Bama's ass. PERIOD! You have seen it with Duke in basketball, sometimes when you are high and you come down a little, it takes awhile to get back up. This is what is happening with Texas right now. They will be back trust me!

Texas and Notre Dame are excellent examples of what i've been preaching since the day I joined this site......RECRUITING RANKINGS DON'T MATTER!

The only thing IMO that makes recruiting rankings relevant are that recruits that are a year or two younger Seniors see the rankings and it gives them interest in a perticular school loaded with 4-5 star recruits. The players and coaches still have to do their parts. Most recruiting sites (especially ESPN) are biased anyway to Florida, Texas, California or any recruit that is highly considering Notre Dame, Bama or top SEC programs.

This is how ESPN evaluates recruits:

Is he from Florida?
Is his 40 time lower than 4.5?
Is he being recruited by SEC schools?

5-star!!
