Nick Swisher
Nick Swisher is a hard guy not to like. His generous $500,000 donation to the baseball program makes me like him even more. Seriously, has anyone ever seen a picture of this when he wasn't smiling and having a great time.
I suppose I would smile a lot too if i were married to this:

You gotta love you some Swish. The best part about him, I bet he was so uncomfortable standing out there with that check. He seems like he'd be happier sneaking in the Gee's office back door and saying softly "Here's a half mil for the baseball program." He's a really low profile guy for a Yankee, they loved him in Oakland too.

I've never seen a better looking person wearing a buckeye necklace... ever.

Joanna Swisher is a total babe. She always looks like she just walked out of a shampoo commercial.

Came off looking like a real jackass this week by being angered over a request for an autograph. Real classy.

I'm hearing from all of these baseball pundits on the ESPN that Swish is likely to be the top free-agent this winter. Not a very deep pool, but he should be making some big bucks none-the-less.
The Parkersburg-Marietta area (where he went to high-school) down here is still little bitter that he's given so much back to Ohio State, but no so much here. I'm sure he'll get a letter or two from the Parkersburg City Schools athletic department the day after he signs his next contract.

A person shouldn't feel obligated to pay back, and I don't think it should be expected from his hometown/school system, but only appreciated if it does occur...
With that said, I'm surprised (if true) he hasn't given much back to his roots...
I know Bobby Carpenter pays for every kid to play football (we have pay to play) here in Lancaster and he pays towards the uniforms and equipment, but his father is the coach....

Well, Swisher usually claims Columbus as his hometown. He was born in Columbus, but moved in with his grandparents in Parkersburg following his parent's divorce when he was young (his dad Steve is also a Parkersburg legend).
I don't resent him one bit. I love the guy... And have very little interest in baseball.
