Quote:
Jalen Coleman hasn’t so much as played a high school varsity game, but got a taste of it this summer playing with Cathedral and again this weekend, competing up an age group with the 15-and-under Eric Gordon All-Stars.
The 6-foot-2, 155-pound Coleman is an impressive talent who helped the Eric Gordon team to a runner-up finish in the 15s championship bracket.
“It was a good experience,” Coleman said. “Chemistry-wise, it went really well. We were playing together and just trying to win every game. Even in practice, it felt like our communication level on the court was great.”
While there is obviously a big jump from the middle school to varsity level in terms of speed and physical play, Coleman said he’s started to feel more at home.
“I struggled my first week tempo-wise,” he said. “Making the transition from middle school to varsity is tough, but by the third tournament at Purdue (team camp), I caught on. My teammates get me going and I just try to stay with them.”
Coleman is picking some very early interest from high-major schools, including Indiana, Michigan State and Purdue. He got a chance to play in front of several college coaches this weekend.
“I saw them and I was a little nervous,” he said. “I just tried to play my game and not worry about it.”
Coleman talked about some of his strengths and weaknesses.
“I think my jump shot and using my height as a point guard are things I can use to my advantage,” he said. “What I need to work on is adding more weight. That will really help with my game.”

He looks talker and longer than 6'2". That's probably why he's listed as a SG and nit a PG. He us only 14-15 years old right now, he could grow to a SF. We'll see. Good looking prospect.

We really need to lock up a PG no later than '14 but if we can sign one in '13 than we will no doubt have to get another PG in this '15 class.
It's nice to have Craft as a 4-year player, let's just hope that Scott stays for his entire tenure too.
This kid would be a great pick-up. It's getting harder to get kids out of Indiana now because IU is grabing most of them up.

Illini After Talented Indianapolis 2015 Guard...............There were a number of talented young basketball prospects on display in Merrillville last weekend. College coaches flocked to the site to evaluate players for possible future recruitment. The player with possibly the most upside was 2015 guard Jalen Coleman from Spiece Indy Heat. While his recruitment is in its infancy, he has an interest in the Illini.

Only a freshman, 6-foot-2 combo guard Jalen Coleman from Indianapolis (Ind.) Cathedral looks to have major tools at his disposal. The 2015 prospect has skill, good size, great length and natural instincts that lead him to attack the rim. Indiana has already offered while the likes of Illinois, Michigan State, Purdue, Notre Dame and others are showing early interest.
