Ohio is generally a mid major state for college talent. Every year there are between 30 and 40 players that sign Division I scholarships and most of those players sign with mid major or low Division I schools.
However, every few years Ohio produces a monster class with multiple ESPNU 100 prospects. The classes of 2006 (Daequan Cook, Raymar Morgan), 2007 (Kosta Koufos, Jon Diebler), 2008 (B.J. Mullen, William Buford) and 2010 (Jared Sullinger, Adreian Payne) were outstanding classes. The next class with that kind of potential is the 2013 class.
It is still early of course, but that class has the length, athleticism, talent and skill necessary to be a monster class. Right at the top of the class you have a huge debate for who is No. 1 in the state between power forward/small forward Marc Loving (Toledo, Ohio/ St. Johns), small forward/power forward Tony Farmer (Garfield Heights, Ohio/Garfield Heights) and power forward/small forward Nigel Hayes (Toledo, Ohio/ Whitmer). They are all versatile, skilled and athletic, but very different.

Younger Hayes Coming Into His Own...................Toledo Whitmer 2013 prospect Nigel Hayes talks about his brother, OSU football signee Kenny Hayes, as well as the chance he may have to play hoops for the Buckeyes.

I think we end up offering Nigel Hayes and he comes to OSU to join his older bro, and his best freind (Marc Loving). Even though CraftOSully said that there is a zero chance that N. Hayes will get an offer from OSU!
I like when recruits come in already after playing together and knowing each other in AAU like the 2010 All Ohio Red players we got last year and Amir Williams and Trey McDonald this year. In 2013, we could get Loving, Hayes, and any one of a couple other players from their AAU team. It can only help the chemistry of our team.
Favorite Buckeye: Urban Meyer, John Simon, Big Hank, Ryan Shazier, Craft, Lenzelle, Buford, Sully

I think we should throw everything we've got at Nigel Hayes and Tony Farmer to join Marc Loving for the class of 2013. They all play AAU together and should have very good chemistry by the time they would get here in the summer of 2013. It doesn't really matter to me that they could all 3 end up growing into the same body type at around 6'7-6'8/200-225. Thad Matta has showed over a period of time that he likes playing with 3 small forwards or wings on the floor together to create good spacing and versatility on offense and have a lot of length on defense. They all 3 bring a little different type of game. Loving has a sweet stroke from anywhere inside half court and Hayes and Farmer will probably grow more into power players and slashers. These 3, along with 2012 prospect Tony Parker and we will have a solid nuclease to mix in with then upper-classmen Craft, Sibert, Scott, & Williams. As long as Matta stays here, we're gonna not only have a really good current team, but a great future year after year. Can't ask for much more than that.
Let's just hope that Nigel Hayes doesn't decide to be a beast of a TE! Does anybody know if he plays football for Whitmer? I'm assuming he does but I don't know.

Nigel Hayes (Toledo, Ohio/Whitmer)
2013, PF/SF, 6-foot-7, 210 pounds | Team: All Ohio Red
College: Undecided
He is a skilled power forward who is slowly trying to make the transition to the wing. He is able to operate a lot more on the perimeter for his high school team, where he even leads the break at times. However, he plays mostly inside for his All Ohio travel team. Hayes has a very good game in the paint with excellent hands and nice footwork. He has good back-to-the-basket moves, can score well in the paint and has an improving 17-foot jump shot. He is also a good defender who can step out and defend in space.
