Look for this one to warm up quickly. Rumor going around town if and when he gets and offer he is OSU's to lose.

NEWS: Aaron Craft Opens it up!
Published on: 26th May, 2009

6-foot-3, 2010, PG, Aaron Craft from Findlay-Liberty Benton (OH) has re-opened his verbal commitment to Tennessee according to a phone call earlier today from his father John. Aaron who is a consensus Top 75 player in the country will continue playing his summer ball with All-Ohio Red in July and will also continue the search for a school next year. Aaron was not available for comment, however his father John stated: “This was not of a personal matter, Coach Pearl has been great during the entire process and it is nothing against the University or their staff. It was of the distance between here and there and what is best for Aaron. We will keep all our options open and hopefully find the best fit for Aaron wherever that may be.” Aaron has been invited to the NBA players camp June 17-21st. Inside Prep Sports will be at the Camp first hand to see how Aaron competes against tomorrows stars!

All-Ohio Red July Schedule: (Tentative)

Georgia Peach Jam
Super Showcase (Orlando)
17U Nationals (Orlando)

OSU close to making its point?

The way it's going, All-Ohio Red is going to have to change its name to All-Ohio Scarlet.

The dominant AAU team of Ohio-bred players has two 2010 prospects (Jared Sullinger and Jordan Sibert) committed to Ohio State and two more (J.D. Weatherspoon and Adreian Payne) weighing offers from coach Thad Matta.

Today comes word that Red's point guard, Aaron Craft of Liberty-Benton High School in Findlay, has rescinded his commitment to Tennessee and is re-opening his recruitment. That tells me that Matta has changed his mind about the 6-foot playmaker and, if he hasn't already, will offer him a scholarship.

If that happens, expect Craft to accept the offer and, a year from now, become the latest candidate to fill a glaring hole in the Buckeyes program.

"It is nothing against (Tennessee) or their staff," Craft's father, John, told the recruiting site HighMajorScoop.com. "It was of distance and what is best for Aaron. We will keep all options open and hopefully find the best fit for Aaron.”

In other words, why go all the way to Tennessee to play in a major conference when the Big Ten school two hours down the road offers the same opportunity?

Before Craft committed to Tennessee a year ago, none of his other offers was from a major-conference program. Matta apparently changed his mind after getting reports of Craft's play on the AAU circuit this spring -- coaches were not permitted to attend tournaments.

The Buckeyes have been recruiting other point guards -- Cory Joseph, Phil Pressey, Lavonte Dority, Trevor Releford, Joe Jackson -- but none is from Ohio nor a good bet to climb on board. A commitment from Craft would get the point-guard hole plugged before the busy July recruiting period and allow Matta to focus on 2011 and beyond as well as wrapping up the 2010 class with Payne or Weatherspoon, or both.

The void at point guard in Ohio State's otherwise stellar 2010 men's basketball recruiting class should be filled in a matter of weeks. Aaron Craft, a junior at Liberty-Benton High School near Findlay, will commit June 15, a source said.

Craft, who plays with Ohio State recruits Jared Sullinger and Jordan Sibert on the All-Ohio Red AAU team, rescinded his commitment to Tennessee this week and reopened his recruitment. Craft told Rivals.com that he wanted to stay closer to home.

Craft, a tough defender and willing passer, raised his stock enough this spring on the AAU circuit to rate a scholarship offer from Ohio State coach Thad Matta. Tennessee was the only school from a major conference to offer him when he committed last summer.

The Buckeyes' 2010 class of Sullinger (Northland), Sibert (Cincinnati Princeton), DeShaun Thomas (Fort Wayne, Ind.) and Lenzelle Smith (Zion, Ill.) already has been touted as the best in the country, and Craft might not be its last piece. Matta also reportedly has made offers to forwards J.D. Weatherspoon of Northland and Adreian Payne of Dayton Jefferson.

COLLEGE BASKETBALL
Liberty-Benton's Craft de-commits from Tennessee

FINDLAY - Liberty-Benton junior Aaron Craft, an All-Ohio first team basketball player and a quarterback in football, has withdrawn his verbal commitment to a basketball scholarship offer from the University of Tennessee.

Craft, a standout in both sports since his freshman year, helped the Eagles to the Division III state basketball championship game in 2007, and to the D-V football final last fall. He committed to the Volunteers last year.

"Aaron decided distance [from home] was a factor for him, and he wanted to find something closer to home," Liberty-Benton coach Steve Williman said. "There wasn't a falling out or anything like that. His recruiting is now open again, and a number of schools have called and showed interest, and Ohio State is one of those."

Craft plays point guard on the Columbus-based All-Ohio Red AAU summer team along with two junior standouts who have already committed to Ohio State - Jared Sullinger from Division I state champion Columbus Northland and Jordan Sibert of D-I state runner-up Cincinnati Princeton.

Williman listed Michigan, Notre Dame, Alabama, Butler, Miami (Ohio) and Eastern Michigan as some of the schools who have contacted Craft.
