2004-2006 WR - Ted Ginn Jr. (Carolina Panthers)

Miami Dolphins put challenge on Ted Ginn to improve
bjackson@MiamiHerald.com
For all the talk of the Dolphins needing a top receiver, they didn't pursue Terrell Owens, T.J. Houshmandzadeh or any veteran; passed on Hakeem Nicks and Kenny Britt to draft cornerback Vontae Davis; and didn't offer Arizona a first-round pick for Anquan Boldin.
No one appreciates this more than Ted Ginn Jr. ''They didn't need to get someone else,'' Ginn said, meaning no slight to draft picks Patrick Turner and Brian Hartline. ``We already have a good receiver corps.''
Ginn said he wants to raise his game ''to another level,'' and the Dolphins have challenged him, starting with general manager Jeff Ireland's remark last month that ``it's time for Ted Ginn to really show what he was drafted here to do.''
With offseason practice under way, here is what the Dolphins want to see:
• Improvement running after the catch. Coach Tony Sparano sees Ginn's ''ability to make people miss and take it the distance'' on kickoffs and punts, and expects more of that in the passing game. The Dolphins didn't like when he ran out of bounds prematurely at times.
• ''The other thing I'd like to see him grow the most at,'' Sparano said last week, ''is his knowledge of the coverage.'' That would ``help him play faster.''

You don't hear too much about teddy Ginn down in Miami. The Miami offense is not exactly "scintillating."

I would be more worried about who's going to throw the ball to Ginn.

Would like to see him become some sort of threat with Pennington as the QB but that is unlikely to happen, they need a QB who can throw the deep ball IMO.

They have Chad Henne. And honestly Pat White has a better arm than most people think.

Ted Ginn Jr. ready to break out?
by Edgar Thompson
In two NFL seasons, Ted Ginn Jr. hasn’t exactly lived up to the No. 9 pick in the 2007 draft.
With 7 total TDs and 90 catches in two seasons, Ginn hasn’t been a bust. But he needs to be more if the Dolphins’ offense is going to become more explosive and productive.
Tony Sparano is hopeful as Ginn approaches his third NFL season.
“Ted Ginn right now if you said to me tell me the player that in the practices we’ve had who’s impressed you the most with his growth out there, I would say Ted Ginn is in the top two,” said Sparano, who wouldn’t name the other.
(Chad Henne is the guess here.)
Even polished wide receivers take time to develop in the NFL and learn coverages. And, Ginn only began to play the position when he arrived at Ohio State.

Part of the reason why Teddy hasn't had "stellar" seasons yet in his first 2 years is because of QBs. You need to get him the ball first... something that I think they've had problems with.

Dolphins counting on Ginn to blossom
By Steven Wine

DAVIE, FLA. — Ted Ginn Jr. was sprinting over the middle when the pass arrived a bit high, forcing him to reach up and leaving him exposed to defenders. Such moments can test an NFL receiver’s backbone — and ribs.
Ginn passed the exam by making the catch. The jarring collision never came, but Ginn earned a pat on the back.
“That is a good sign for me,” said his coach, Tony Sparano.
“You just go out and show what you can do,” Ginn said.
How much Ginn can do is one of the biggest questions in the Miami Dolphins’ training camp. He’s entering his third season, and while he hasn’t been a bust, he has yet to make the impact expected of a player taken ninth in the draft.
The Bill Parcells regime has dramatically upgraded the roster since taking over last year, but the role of a No. 1 receiver remains unfilled. The speedy Ginn is the leading candidate, but he must shake the rap that he shies away from contact. More than once last year, the slender, 180-pound Ginn stepped out of bounds with a tackler bearing down.

Solid game for Teddy last night on MNF. 11 catches for 108 yards. Dropped a couple TD passes though.

That one was a little over-thrown, but Ginn probably still should've had it.
