A dream come true for Othello Hunter
Former Buckeye forward, Othello Hunter, received good news Friday that his long time dream of making it to the NBA was finally coming true. The Atlanta Hawks have signed Hunter to a contract "guaranteeing him half of the NBA's minimum salary for rookies, or $221,057... Hunter is guaranteed the full minimum of $442,114 if he's on the Hawks' roster Dec. 15th."
In his senior season for the Buckeyes, Hunter averaged 9.9 points a game, 6.5 rebounds and earning honorable mention in the Big Ten.
Quote:
When David Lee (Hunter's agent) called him Thursday to tell him the Hawks would be sending him the contract by overnight mail, "I started screaming in the car," Hunter said. "My best friend from junior college looked at me like I was crazy.
"I'm kind of blown away about it, like … 'My dream finally came true.'

ScarletBuckeye.com and Buckeye fans from all over would like to congradulate Othello Hunter on his journey to the Atlanta Hawks.

Hunter unsigned but in Hawks minicamp
While Othello Hunter's agent shops for the best deal for his client next season, Hunter is back in Atlanta trying to earn an invitation to the Hawks' training camp.
Hawks beat writer Sekou Smith of the Atlanta Journal Constitution likes his game but acknowledges it would be a gamble for Hunter to turn down an overseas offer and go back to training camp with the Hawks.
As a free agent, Hunter played five games for Golden State in the NBA Summer League this month and averaged 3.4 points and 3.2 rebounds in 10 minutes per game.

-Othello Hunter was more impressive than any other player in camp, after Teague. His range on his jumper has improved dramatically. But we all know that his chance at making a dent in the Hawks’ roster and playing rotation depends on his ability rebound, defend and provide the hustle plays required of frontcourt journeymen in the NBA. The improved shot is an added bonus. I’d have him locked up on a two-year deal right now. If he keeps improving, someone is going to get a steal.
