2008-2012 DT - Garrett Goebel (St. Louis Rams)
"Many athletes would consider being an elite athlete in one sport to be a dream come true. Montini Catholic (IL) athlete Garrett Goebel he must be on cloud nine as he is the No.2 ranked heavyweight wrestler in the country, and finished his senior year ranked No. 64 in the nation on the gridiron."

I know most people don't follow wrestling (even though Ohio destroys everyone in HS wrestling, no exageration) but Garret Goebel, OSU Football Recruit, happens to be one of the if not the best HS Heavyweight wrestlers in the Nation.

...for those who care that's Goebel beating local Parma Heavyweight James Meder in the toughest HS Wrestling tournament in the Nation. Meder also happens to be the Best D1 Heavyweight in the state.

Good article
Brings some comparisons to that safety that played for ND couple years ago... even though he was a boxer.
Can't wait to see Goebel in action.

If you look at a lot of DEs in the pros. A large number of them were HS state wrestling champs. Dexter Larimore was Indiana State HW wrestling champ his senior year. It's a good sign

Larrimore was the #1 heavyweight in the nation and probably the most recruited wresteler. I'm sure Luke Fickell recruited them both since he was a stud wrestler at DeSales.

I beleive there was Wrestler from San Diego by the name of Stephen Neal. Two time NCAA Wrestling Champ, one was againest Brock Lesner. Has a few Super bowl rings on the OL of New England.
...Oh ya and he never played a down of College Football in his life. It's amazing to see what atheletes can do.
