Interesting that they announce this the week before the conference title game matchup is set and it includes Miami in the equation.... Should they beat Duke they'd have been in the title game due to having the h2h tie breaker over Georgia Tech to represent the Coastal Division in the ACC Title Game... Kinda ruins things for Duke if you ask me, because not only will they be playing for a positive overall and .500 ACC record, they'd have been playing for a shot at denying that berth to Miami...
Either way, I doubt the NCAA takes it all that easy on Miami considering this is the 6 major rules violation investigation that I know of at the program since 1990... I doubt they get the death penalty, but they'll get something close to what Penn State got... probably 4 years probation and postseason ban, loss of 12-18 scholarships, and a serious fine. While abortion is legal, it is certainly a hot button issue on moral and ethical grounds, and something I'm sure the NCAA wants distanced from the reputation of collegiate athletics...
With everything Miami's already been busted on over the last 25-30 years... I think the NCAA gives them a heavy boot in the ass and tells them one more major f***-up and you're done.
