2014 OT Bars talks chat with Meyer
September, 26, 2012
By Dave Hooker | ESPN.com
Ohio State head Urban Meyer certainly made a strong impression on 2014 offensive tackle prospect Alex Bars during a Sunday evening phone conversation.
"It was great," the junior from Nashville Montgomery Bell Academy said of the chat. "He asked about our whole family first."
Bars, who recently picked up a scholarship offer from the Buckeyes, said Meyer asked him how the program ranks with the other schools he's considering.

Alex Bars will make his own decision...............Will family influence the decision of 2014 offensive tackle Alex Bars? He has family connections to Michigan, Notre Dame, and Penn St., but this Bars he will make his own decision.

2014 OL has 12 offers, more likely..............Alex Bars has family ties to Notre Dame, Michigan and Penn State but will he end choose a new path when making a college choice?

Alex Bars is taking the weekend off from visiting prospective colleges. The offensive lineman from Nashville (Tenn.) Montgomery Bell Academy plans to be back on the road next week, the junior told ESPN on Friday.
Bars is leaning towards a trip to Purdue to see the Boilermakers host Penn State. His eldest brother, Brad Bars, is a junior defensive lineman for the Nittany Lions.
Alex Bars has already visited Michigan and Notre Dame. Both have ties to the Bars family. Bars' brother, Blake Bars, is a freshman offensive lineman for Michigan. Alex Bars' father attended Notre Dame.
Bars said he will definitely visit Penn State, Alabama and Vanderbilt this season. In addition to Ohio State and Michigan, Bars has scholarship offers from Indiana, Duke, North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Ole Miss and Mississippi State.

Football Recruiting
Alex Bars sets a high bar for offensive linemen
By Michael Chung
Standing 6-6 and weighing in at 281 pounds, Alex Bars has set the bar high for offensive line recruits. A product of Nashville (Tenn.) Montgomery Bell Academy, this 2014 prospect already has offers from Michigan, Nebraska, Tennessee, UNC, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt and the Buckeyes.
His father played at Notre Dame, his brothers play at Big Ten Universities: Penn State and Michigan, and the Buckeyes are recruiting this former Michigan native and current Tennessee resident hard. Does Notre Dame have an advantage? What about Penn State and Michigan?
Talking to Alex, it doesn’t take long to realize he is his own man. Though it would be nice to play with a brother, it looks like this member of the Bars family will set his own bar on where he plays and it could be for the Scarlet and Gray.
He took some time to tell The-Ozone how his recruiting is going.
Ozone: Where did you grow up? Who was your childhood favorite team?
Bars: I grew up in Detroit, Michigan and moved to Tennessee when I was eight. I have loyalties to both states. I grew up watching the Detroit Tigers as my childhood favorite sports team.
Ozone: Is football your favorite sport? When did you start playing?
Bars: I started playing football in the third grade and I would say that football and basketball are my two favorite sports. I also play baseball and compete in track throwing shot put and discus.

Alex Bars (6-6, 281, OL, 2014, Nashville, Tenn.)
Bars has a brother who goes to Michigan, another brother who goes to Penn State and a father who went to Notre Dame. See a pattern here? Seems like the Bars men are their own men and do not necessarily walk in the footsteps of each other but blaze their own path. Parents would go crazy if Alex chose Ohio State but, with two sons at different schools in the Big Ten, they already are dealing with it. He is spending the holidays in Ann Arbor with his brother so the Wolverines will have an early advantage. Read his Ozone interview here.

Bars Stars in Nashville.............Tennessee tackle is gaining plenty of interest. Penn State, where his brother plays, is in the mix for the big man.
