Speedy USC Commit Plans Columbus Visit for ‘The Game’
By Michael Chung
Urban Meyer has made it no secret the Buckeyes are short on playmakers, and we know by know that Meyer is not afraid to poach another schools commit.
One playmaker who could be the next to fill both of those categories at Ohio State is Southern California wideout Sebastian Larue .
A 4-star prospect out of Santa Monica, Calif., Larue has already pledged to the hometown USC Trojans and head coach Lane Kiffin, but this has not stopped Meyer from attempting to flip this west-coaster out east.
Larue is a speedy receiver in the class of 2013, with potential Percy Harvin-type moves in the open field. Rivals.com rates him as the No. 27 WR in the country, but his impressive offer list includes Arizona, Cal, Florida State, Michigan, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Tennessee and UCLA, along with Ohio State and USC.
With James Quick rumored to have Louisville No. 1 and Shelton Gibson reportedly dealing with academic issues, Meyer is working feverishly to try a secure more playmakers in this class. Larue took some time to give The-Ozone an update on his recruitment.
Ozone: When did you decide to visit OSU?
Larue: I decided not too long after they offered, it is a great opportunity. I always respected Urban Meyer ever since he was at Utah. Even without Urban Meyer, Ohio State is a great school with a great tradition and fan base but Urban Meyer ups my interest level.
Ozone: What did the USC coaches say when you were considering other OSU?
Larue: They do not talk about it much. I did commit to USC, and I am focused on getting to USC. OSU is a possible option but I am committed. I don’t think the USC coaches are worried.
LaRue on wins and losses.................USC four-star commit, Sebastian Larue from Santa Monica (Calif.) and his Viking teammates had a huge win in convincing fashion 39-10 Friday Evening over Inglewood (Calif.) to claim sole possession of first-place.
USC commit sets first two visits............Santa Monica (Calif.) two-way player Sebastian Larue has consistently said he plans to take a few official visits and recently lined up his first two.
Note: Finalized his visit to Ohio State for the Michigan game.
Cougs host 4-star USC commit this weekend................A FOUR-STAR wide receiver prospect will be on hand this weekend at Washington State as the Cougs square off against the Bruins. He committed to a Pac-12 school in June, but he’s looking hard at the Cougs and Mike Leach. Where does his commitment stand and what does he hope to see during his official visit to the Palouse? CF.C went to the sought 5-11, 188-pound senior for answers.

espn-cancelled visit
Quote:
Four-star receiver Sebastian LaRue (Santa Monica, Calif./Santa Monica) remained committed to USC following his weekend trip to Washington State. Despite chilly temperatures in Pullman, Wash., the ESPN 150 receiver thoroughly enjoyed his first official visit but returned home Monday night as an unwavering member of the Trojans recruiting class.
“My trip was nice,” LaRue said. “It was cold, but it was definitely a nice trip.”
LaRue added he might still consider Washington State if he decides to change his commitment in the next few months.
“I wouldn’t have taken an official visit there if I wasn’t interested,” LaRue said. “It’s a school that I like. I like Coach Mike Leach’s offense and like the coaching staff he has around him. The support from the community was a good thing to see.”
LaRue had set up an official visit to Ohio State for the Nov. 24 game against Michigan but has since canceled.
“Me and the (Ohio State) coaching staff talked it over. They’re still recruiting me but we came on an agreement to cancel for various reasons,” he said. “I think I’m going to visit Notre Dame. That’s in the process of being set up and that would probably be this weekend if I do go. I’m also trying to set up an official to Texas A&M.”
Sebastian LaRue (WR, 2013, Santa Monica, Calif.)
There were reports recently that Ohio State has stopped recruiting LaRue, including one that said the Buckeyes have decided not to bring USC wide receiver commitment Sebastian LaRue (Santa Monica, Calif./Santa Monica) in for an official visit.
The 4-star receiver was planning to visit Ohio State the weekend of Nov. 24 for the Michigan game. However, LaRue called Urban Meyer close to two weeks ago and then spoke to Tom Herman last week and was told the Ohio State visit later this month is off. The OSU coaches did not close the door completely, but at least for now the visit has not been rescheduled for a later date.
I spoke to LaRue personally, however, and he said that Ohio State has not stopped recruiting him and that he is talking to the coaches about a visit but he will not attend the Michigan game.
