Is this a big get?

He looks like he can score from just about anywhere... But most high-school highlight videos look the same to me.

Williams picks the Buckeyes

Ohio State got on the board in the 2013 class a long time ago with four-star in-state talent Marc Loving. Now, nearly two years later, the second pledge has come in for the Buckeyes and it is Kameron Williams.

There is no substitute for being to put the ball in the basket, and very few prospects can do that at a higher level than the 6-foot-1 Williams. After starring at Baltimore (Md.) Mt. St. Joseph’s, Williams had an excellent summer on the EYBL circuit with Nike Baltimore Elite.

Now after a major recruiting battle with the Miami Hurricanes, Williams has decided to head to the Big Ten and be an Ohio State Buckeye according to sources.

For a while it seemed that the Hurricanes were going to be very tough to beat, but an in-home visit and subsequent official visit from Williams to Ohio State turned the tide.

Williams is the No. 88 ranked prospect in the country and a four-star recruit. He will be expected to pair with Loving to give the Buckeyes more scoring punch on the perimeter.

It's a big get for a couple reasons...

First, he's a hellava player and he's a cat-quick defender on the perimeter and he can also score at ease..

Second, Matta was in a huge recruiting drought that covered nearly 2 years, with ADV being the only player to commit to OSU since Amir Williams way back in early 2011...

A solid pickup for Matta..............Williams can score from anywhere and has a nice jump shot.........................Could be a solid player depending on how he fits defensively.........................

Men's Basketball
Closer Look at Buckeyes’ Latest Commitment

By Brandon Castel

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State landed another commitment Tuesday, but not on the gridiron. Thad Matta and his staff picked up a verbal pledge from 2013 shooting guard Kameron Williams following his visit to Columbus over the weekend.

Recruiting has been nothing but crickets on the basketball front since Matta snagged sharp-shooter Amedeo Della Valle at the last minute for the class of 2012. Now Williams joins Toledo St. John’s forward Marc Loving as the second member of Ohio State’s ’13 class.

We caught up with Ozone contributing writing Jeff Rapp, who is always glued in to the Buckeye basketball beat, for a closer look at Williams and what his commitment means for the Buckeyes.

“Obviously they think enough of this kid to think he can play, but it’s a little head scratching,” Rapp told The-Ozone Tuesday, “because I don’t remember them recruiting him for very long. He was kind of in a group with 25 others.”

A 6-2 shooting guard out of Baltimore (Md.) Mt. St. Joseph’s, Williams had a breakout summer on the EYBL circuit with Nike Baltimore Elite.

In 20 games, at four national events this summer, Williams averaged over 22 points per game while shooting better than 50 percent from the floor. He also shot 85 percent from the free throw line and close to 50 percent from behind the arc.

“He can definitely fill it,” Rapp said.

“He’s definitely not a point guard. He’s a guy who has big-time scoring ability, but he doesn’t quite strike me as a Thad Matta kind of player.”

Buckeyes Land Baltimore Scorer..........A Miami lean for quite some time, 2013 shooting guard Kameron Williams picked up the right vibe on his Ohio State visit over the weekend and will play in the Big Ten next year.
