Thumbs down

I usually root for Ohio teams but in this case I will find it hard to root for Cincy...

We are/were supposed to be playing them this Saturday, and they backed out and stuck us with a Conference USA opponant (UCF) that we were lucky to be able to schedule at the last moment...

Although I think UCF is a better team than Cincy, I did like how we had 2 BCS opponents on the schedule..

Next year we are supposed to play Vandy (SEC) in the 1st week, and Cal a couple weeks later..

That's a good non-conference schedule, but now there are rumors that Vandy is trying to get out of that game...

I say, if you schedule a game, Buckeye-up and play the damn thing...

If it is true and they want to back out it's has everything to do with us hiring Urban and the nightmares they've been having ever since as they remember how he beat them year in, year out while he was at Florida... by an average score of 41-19...

Vanderbilt to drop Ohio State as 2013 Opener?

Quote:
Vanderbilt is scheduled to open the 2013 football season at Ohio State, but athletics director David Williams would consider scrapping that if the SEC asks the Commodores to open with a conference game on national TV.

“I’ll put it this way: I love opening up on Thursday night,” Williams said Friday. “I think there’s some excitement that goes with being the first game of the year. That’s really cool.”

Vanderbilt rearranged its 2012 schedule when it was given the opportunity to host South Carolina in this season’s first game on ESPN. Kickoff is at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Next year’s game in Columbus is slated for Aug. 31. The contract was finalized during the 2010 season before James Franklin was named Vanderbilt’s coach that December.

“My gut reaction is everything holds the same (with Ohio State), but I can’t say that for sure,” Williams said. “Clearly there is a desire from our TV partners to have more opening-week SEC games, and that has not been a tradition in the SEC.

“So they have to figure that out. If we need to have two opening SEC games, which four of you are going to give up your nonconference games so we can do that? Well, if it’s that important, somebody’s going to have to give those up. It’s still a work in progress.”

The Commodores must shuffle one of their five scheduled 2013 nonconference opponents to another season or drop one of them so they can play eight SEC games. Vanderbilt has multi-year deals with Massachusetts, Northwestern and Wake Forest that include games next season, and a one-year deal to host Austin Peay. UMass is the only one of those four that Vanderbilt is slated to play on the road next season.

Williams plans to wait for the SEC schedule to be finalized before he can bring some clarity to the nonconference picture

Money as a cover story for not wanting to get their butts kicked again... lame. That's precisely what it boils down to, despite the fact they'll get a handsome payment from us to come up here and play a game... The B1G and the SEC should work out a deal to get SEC teams to do home and aways with the B1G instead of their penchant for scheduling 1AA opponents in November... if they want to prove their the best conference in the country they can put their money where their mouth is and come play some games in B1G country in November when teams are at the full swing of their season... I'd love to see us have a chain of series with Bama, Florida, Auburn, LSU, etc where they'd have to come play a November game in the Shoe, but they're definitely too big of pussies to do it, lol.

I can't root for either...everytime I wear my tOSU gear down in Cincy I catch hell...also when I went to the Bills/Bengals game TBDBITL happened to be there for half time and the crowd wasn't that into it..STRIKE 2. I guarantee when they are in Cleveland this season the Brownies fans will be into some Hang On Sloooooopy.
