Decision time close for 2014 Ed Paris?
June, 24, 2012
By Damon Sayles | ESPN.com
Ed Paris (Arlington, Texas/Mansfield Timberview) has an idea of where he wants to play college football. Whether or not he’ll announce that decision publicly any time soon, that’s still a mystery.
Paris, a highly touted 2014 cornerback, said Sunday that while he has nearly 20 offers, there is one school in particular catches his attention enough to where an announcement could be near. Paris chose not to divulge further information, but he mentioned that the school has everything he’s looking for, athletically and scholastically.
“I’m trying to look for something that will enhance my skills, some place that has a good team environment and that will help me adjust to it,” Paris said. “I want a school that’s going to help me grow educationally. At the end of the day, it’s not about football; it’s about getting that degree.”

Small update......
Quote:
Class of 2014 cornerback Edward Paris Jr. of Mansfield Timberview High (Arlington, Texas) has offers from the likes of Clemson, LSU, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, UCLA and Nebraska, and he has visited UCLA, Rutgers, USC, Auburn, LSU and Alabama.
However, he hasn’t thought about trimming his list.
“Getting a D-I scholarship from big-time schools like that are a blessing,” he said. “They all stand out.”

DB Edward Paris, Mansfield (Tex.) Timberview (2014)
Like Blanding, Paris is big for a safety, yet shows the coverage skills to play cornerback. In fact, Paris played exclusively at cornerback on Saturday and locked down his side of the field while doing so. Listed at 6-foot-2, Paris appears right around 200 pounds. His frame could project him as an outside linebacker, but his speed and coverage skills will keep him in the defensive backfield. For as big as he is, Paris was one of the fastest players on the field, and his closing speed sets him apart.

Paris stars at Underclassmen Challenge...........DESOTO, Texas - The Rivals Underclassmen Challenge was loaded with Ohio State targets in the defensive backfield. One of the top prospects certainly lived up to the billing.

Justifying the hype
The talk in Texas is that the 2014 group of defensive backs will lead the way for the state in the next round of recruiting, and could account for half of the state's top 10 spots in the class. That has been borne out through the number of early scholarships handed out at the position and from the performance of those prospects at the Rivals Underclassmen Challenge. Beaumont (Tex.) Ozen's Tony Brown took home a well-deserved MVP honor for the position group, but six of the top eight defensive backs at the Challenge were from the state of Texas and four of those found spots among the top 10 overall defensive performers at the event.
Mansfield (Tex.) Timberview's Edward Paris looks like he will provide a stiff challenge to Brown for top defensive back honors in the state of Texas for 2014, but Lewisville (Tex.) Hebron's Jamal Adams made a case for being in that conversation as well. The most impressive aspect of the 2014 Texas defensive back group, though, is its depth and we saw that first-hand in DeSoto.
