Ready for a rant?
NFL seizes record $13.6M in fake products
Anyone else think this story is complete B.S.?? Talk about propaganda for the league... It's laughable how one sided this story is... Another example why sports writers shouldn't be allowed to refer to themselves as journalists.
Highlights:
Quote:
|
"The sale of counterfeit jerseys and other sports items undermines the legitimate economy, takes jobs away from Americans, and fuels crime overseas.
|
This one is the best... Undermines the economy, by allowing the middle class to pay a reasonable price for a garment?
Takes away jobs from Americans... even though all Nike NFL jerseys are made in China?
Quote:
|
Davis says that, while counterfeiters often use the same pictures to mislead consumers, what fans get when it arrives on their doorstep is a different story, ranging from misspellings to loose stitches to colors that fade with a single wash.
|
^^ According to the article, the real thing > counterfeit
Then Later:

Guys like Burns and his friends order counterfeit jerseys that are pretty close to the real thing and show up with tags with holograms on them.
|
^^ Counterfeits are equal in many cases...
Maybe the NFL/NIKE should charge reasonable rates for their jerseys, and this wouldn't be an issue... Think about it, if you're making Jerseys at the scale that Nike is, and a small operation can charge less than half of what you're charging, then you're obviously marking it up entirely too much...
Jerseys aren't very difficult to make, AND you're going through China to produce... I'm sorry, but there's no way I'm buying any jerseys from Nike at the prices they charge...
The NFL goes out of it's way to squeeze every dime out of you that they possibly can... If you're going to charge me $9 for a beer and blackout games on Sunday Ticket when they don't sell out, don't expect me to buy your way-too-expensive Chinese-made jerseys.
/Rant end.

This is so funny. I just got a couple from China and they are amazing. F You NFL. Sorry but as often as NFL players change teams there is no way in hell I'm paying $225 for an authentic.

whats funny is they charge $225 ,but what these fakes have shown us is these jerseys could be sold for $50 and nike still make a massive profit, plus these fakes are only place you can still get older jerseys, like my George oilers jersey and McNabb and Kearse titans jersey

I've always laughed at some of the knock offs over the years but within the last two years they have started making some pretty decent jerseys. Right now you can get a tackle-twill sewn on jersey for about the same price as a Nike t-shirt. I wish one of these companies would make the Ohio Rivalry jersey from the last Michigan game.
