Ohio State coach Urban Meyer has only been on the job two months, but he hasn’t wasted any time in making an impact.

You might say Meyer and his hand-picked staff of assistant coaches made a great run at remaking the OSU roster with a recruiting class that contained 25 signees on national signing day. That class – unheralded prior to Meyer’s arrival – is now ranked as high as fifth nationally in the 247Sports.com team rankings.

“This is a great day for Ohio State and a great day for our coaching staff,” Meyer said in opening his signing day press conference at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center. “I keep hearing this is a top-five class or a top-three class. But that doesn’t mean a whole lot to me personally. At the end of the day, it’s what happens in two or three years from now.

“However, I am very pleased with the work ethic our guys have shown. It was very impressive to be able to pull that class together.”
