NBA: Oden pushes himself
Frustration with his inconsistent play turns Blazers center into force

By Anne M. Peterson
PORTLAND, Ore. -- Greg Oden challenged himself.
Weary of play even he perceived as inconsistent, the Trail Blazers' 7-foot center made a conscious decision to break out.
The result came Monday night, when he scored a career-high 24 points and had 15 rebounds in Portland's victory over the Milwaukee Bucks.
"I just wanted to start stepping up my game," he said. "Being inconsistent, I've been saying that all year. It's time to change that."
Oden didn't just become more confident and aggressive; he seemed to snap out of a funk that had clouded his rookie season so far. He high-fived fans after the game, then smiled and joked with reporters around his locker.

I had posted about this in the NBA forum, I hope he can stay consistent, because if he keeps putting up games like that he will be in a battle for ROY with Derrick Rose.

I honestly think Oden has a chance at ROY if he averages a double double like he has lately.

Oden out at least a week with sore left knee
48 minutes ago
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP)—Portland Trail Blazers center Greg Oden is expected to miss at least another week because of a bone chip in his left knee.
The Blazers say Oden’s knee will be reevaluated in 7-10 days.
The 7-footer was hurt in a collision during a game at Golden State before the All-Star break. He missed the rookie challenge and seven games since.
The top pick in the 2007 draft sat out last season after microfracture surgery on his right knee. He missed six games early this season with a foot injury.
Oden has averaged nine points and just over seven rebounds in 39 games this season. Joel Przybilla has been starting in his place.
