It looks like he's gone if he is told he has any chance at the NBA, that's how I saw that article.
On the other hand, maybe he will figure out that in the NBA he's not going to get as much time as he did with the Buckeyes unless he's playing for a euro team or something, I mean I would only expect him to play more next year.

i think it will be a huge mistake if he leaves.. he needs to develop toughness, his hands are like stone, his pressence down low was a disappearing act...i mean he only averaged 4.7 boards. the money will be there, but if he leaves now he will lose out on more money because now he is a late 1st rounder maybe and thats only on potential.

Rob Oller commentary: Early exit by Mullens seems likely

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH
B.J. Mullens used the expression "one and done" three times in a 10-minute conversation this week to describe the NCAA Tournament exit policy.
The fearful Ohio State fan will worry that the freshman 7-footer was subconsciously describing his future with the Buckeyes, the parallel being that the lose-and-go-home mantra of March Madness rings similar to the lose-and-go-get-a-job tune sung by players such as Mullens who are considering leaving college early for the NBA.
I won't allay those fears, for it is quite possible, even probable, that the final game of Mullens' college career will coincide with OSU's final game of the season. So keep an eye on the center out of Canal Winchester tonight in a first-round game against Siena, because if the Buckeyes leave town early, Mullens might, too.
The strongest evidence comes from Mullens himself, who given the chance this week to publicly commit to returning for his sophomore season declined to do so. If Mullens were certain of returning, he is enough of a straight shooter to say so.
Instead, after telling me he has yet to reach a decision, there was this exchange:
Me: "Do you think you're ready right now to play in the NBA?"
Him: "I think I am, but we'll find out."
Read into that what you will. I take from it a player who won't be coaxed into staying at Ohio State based on the premise that his game still requires seasoning before he can be effective in the NBA. He doesn't think so, in part because much seasoning already has taken place, not so much with basketball skills but through the slap to the head that comes when a high school star turns into a college sixth man.
Continued............

That would be a big mistake. He's nowhere near ready to play in the NBA. If he leaves he will sit on the bench for a couple years.

I agree but all signs point to Mullens leaving..........I wish him the best of luck...........he is a project at best right now.........he will not develop on an NBA bench.........he will be in the D League before he knows it........his family situation dictates that he leave.........

I don't think it's about being a good NBA player or not at this point, it's about getting his family money, his family used to live in a house with no windows for christ sake.

I dunno if you can say that, he certainly hasn't been as good as a guy like Oden or something, but he won the best 6th man award in the Big 10, and actually helped contribute far more than people give him credit for.
If he didn't come in as such a highly regarded prospect we'd be in love with him.
