Default MLB officially adds instant replay

MLB has officially announced that instant replay will be used starting Thursday.

ESPN - MLB approves replay in series that start Thursday - MLB

Is this a good idea or a bad idea?

I saw its a good idea, some people justify it by saying it's the officials job to call the sport but it's also there job to be fair. This will help officials make the right call.

Eh...for the hardcore MLB fans, I think this is perfect. There are way to many close calls ending in suspensions. For the people who watch MLB every now and then...I see this as a negative thing because baseball is already a slow game to watch, and instant replay is only going to make games a bit more lengthy. This may result in a loss of some viewers, but overall it will make the fans who truely care about the sport happy.

I'm sure the '96 Orioles think that this is too little too late.

I like the idea of having fairer (if thats a word) calls, as lyle said. the only thing i'm wondering is if they will ever expand into more calls than just homeruns for example close calls at first base or even strikes/balls. that could be a little more controversial...because every call that doesn't go your teams way and is somewhat close seems to be a wrong call, so that would probably take up too much time.
