Signed Willie Harris to a minor league deal. He will make $800k if he makes the opening day roster.

The Reds acquired infielder Wilson Valdez from the Philadelphia Phillies for minor league pitcher Jeremy Horst on Wednesday, another move to add depth to their bench.

I'm actually really surprised that that's all it took, Valdez is a pretty valuable guy to have on the bench.

I am so glad the Reds didn't stand pat this winter. They went out and got some good guys. I think the division is theirs to win this year. I can't wait to watch them.

Update......

Quote:
When Cincinnati Reds closer Ryan Madson was lost for the season, many assumed that Sean Marshall, the setup man acquired from the Chicago Cubs, would move into the spot.

Reds manager Dusty Baker wasn’t one of them.

Baker said the ideal closer can go three or four days in a row, and that might not describe Marshall. Baker isn’t sure he has anybody in his bullpen who has ever been used that way, so he is contemplating going to a bullpen by committee, which he admits he dislikes.

Besides Marshall, Bill Bray, Nick Masset and Aroldis Chapman are all candidates, although Masset will start the season on the disabled list and the Reds have been preparing Chapman to start. Chapman has made it clear that his preference is to open the season in the rotation.
