Default OH from Buck68

A Buckeye recommended this site to me as one where people can discuss Buckeye football. Put the most loyal way, that means anything, since anything and everything is related to Buckeye football.

In my several years of moderating and posting on various websites, i've found not a little bit of foolishness and fratricide. And i've had the pleasure of some interesting feedback, including bans and the most exquisite string of encouragings to go to various abominable places or be the worst human being ever. It seems we each at some time exhibit a few barriers to exercising common sense. And many times our own gratification and emotion take over our fingers doing the walking, and onto the world internet stage goes such content as that which has engendered more mayhem ever since ...the first instance.

Practically, it seems that whenever we're all excited [and sometimes when we're just bored]...we find it rather difficult to distinguish between these basics in human relations:

critique and criticism;
discussing content and characterizing the person who posted the content;
personal point of view and some certain standard;
who has superpowers, and who does not;
logic and logical limits/fallacies;
ignorance and prejudice;
who owns an idea or standard and who does not;
attribution and innuendo;

and so forth.

May i report to you that, in similar intros and exchanges elsewhere in the past, some fine folks already hurt their head and felt bad. Others had progressed to how sick they were; still others were searching for an IGNORE button; and a few intrepid seekers of [as JT puts it] "excellence in everything" had already found and proclaimed their Final Solution to this latest intrusion into TheirWorld.

My response to the specturm of human response, and choice? To each his own. On Good Authority [not me] it is written that "each man shall carry his own load".

So, regardless of how each person, each time, chooses to receive what i post, i still ought to post responsibly, and not as the Authority on...anything. Just said that because it has been a fav accusation. Anyone can 'just say' or feel good about themselves. In trying to relate equitably to any person, here's the best understanding i've come to, to date...which means i ought to walk this precise talk.

First, take every person at their word. [If i do not, i start by assuming that person is either dumb or lying to me. As they say nowadays, that would be 'negative'.] Practically, why? Because, each person each response will reveal [a] whether they meant what they said; and, [b] their intentions.

Second, each person is 'worth it', regardless of the worth of their past behavior. Some have phrased this, "hate the sin, love the sinner." Easier said than done, like anything...worthwhile.

Third, if i want to try and understand and learn from, or respond to, what a person said...i must first read what they said. Otherwise, i am left with what they said before, to predict the content of what they are saying now. That kind of 'prediction'...is both judgment and prejudice. Not that i don't feel like doing both often. It's just, on Good Authority, that i cannnot stand the consequences of so doing. So, selfishly, it is in my very own eternal best interest if i don't judge, or act on my prejudices.

Fourth. The 3 above human relational principles suggest these perspectives:
[a] since 'we're all human'...we're all in this same relational boat, for life;
[b] 'recovery' is my most important exercise;
[c] 'walk my talk' is what i can use to relate to and with any other person, regardless of our likes/dislikes; agreements or disagreements. IOW, if a person means what he says, and does what he means, he provides me with a priceless means to communicate with him. Inasmuch as either he or i do not...the usual charades begin...and continue.

Fifth. Boy do i have alot to learn, and abundant opportunities to get better, and just the right amount of time to do so.

Sixth. I do NOT trust JT, you, nice people, inanimate objects, feelings, fairness...and MOST of all, me. Some of my finest delusions and prevarications and foolishnesses have come from the wellspring of my humble sincerity and noble righteouness. So...for you folks 'right in your own mind'...expect us to...have encounters of the usual kind....

I look forward to reading each person here, because each person in many ways has much to offer, each post. But you betcha it might not 'feel that way'...to you or me, from time to time.

GO BUCKS! Bob/Buck68
