I just posted an interview over on my blog - The Silver Bullet, and in that interview Dan O'Brien from Illinoisloyalty.com makes it clear that we need to blitz Juice. I thought we did a great job at blitzing Daryll Clark in the Penn State game, do you think we will have that same success in this game? Or do we play a soft zone like we did against the Illini a season ago?
I think we have to blitz Juice very often. If we get consistent pressure on him then that will force bad throws by him.
I agree. I have a hard time trusting Heacock anyways, and last weeks game against Northwestern confirmed that. Kafka ran down the ball down the D's throat on the opening drive, and they knew what was coming. I know we got some sacks late, but it was depressing to watch an average speed running quarterback do that much damage. If Heacock's game plan is the same this week, get ready for Juice to have a field day!
I say be careful about the blitz. The idea is to contain him. If we over-pursue, and he slips past the blitz, he'll have no problem getting to the secondary.
