    WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL AMONG NATION’S BEST
Fresh off of back-to-back Sweet 16 runs in Jen Flynn Oldenburg’s first two seasons as head coach, Ohio State women’s volleyball is looking like a contender to go even further this season.

The Buckeyes are currently ranked sixth in the country and have already won four matches this season against top-10 teams (at the time of the match). Overall, the Buckeyes have a 10-5 record this season, highlighted by an early September win over Louisville, which was the No. 3 team in the country when it hosted Ohio State and is now ranked second nationally. The Buckeyes’ 6-1 record in Big Ten games has them second in the conference standings behind Nebraska, the only league opponent to beat Ohio State so far this season.

Following a road sweep of 10th-ranked Minnesota on Wednesday, Ohio State has now won its last five matches in a row.

    WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL
Ohio State women’s volleyball and head coach Jen Flynn Oldenburg announced Thursday that United States Olympian Michelle Bartsch-Hackley will join the Buckeyes’ coaching staff as the volunteer assistant.

“I am thrilled to add Michelle Bartsch-Hackley to our staff,” Oldenburg said in an official statement. “Her knowledge of the game, experience and success at the highest level will have an immediate impact on our program.”

Bartsch-Hackley was a standout for the Illinois women's volleyball team from 2008-11. She later played for Team USA from 2015-21, winning several Nations League awards in the progress, including Best Outside Hitter and Most Valuable Player in both the 2018 and 2021 seasons. At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Bartsch-Hackley won a gold medal with the United States and was named co-Best Outside Hitter for the Summer Games along with teammate Jordan Larson.

“I’m really excited to be joining the coaching staff and to be a part of a program that I have grown to love from afar,” Bartsch-Hackley said of her future role with the Buckeyes. “I’m grateful for this opportunity and want to thank everyone who has welcomed me to Ohio State.”

Ohio State has found tremendous success under Oldenburg, including multiple Sweet 16 appearances and a trip to the Elite Eight – the program's first since 2004 – since she took over the program following the 2019 season. The addition of Bartsch-Hackley to the staff should keep the program trending in that direction in 2023.
