The season starts tonight! 7:00 — Wizards v Cavs 8:00 — Celtics v Heat and many speculate that Sully will be Boston's first openning day rookie starter since Paul Pierce in 1999! 10:20 — Mavs v Lakers
I'm so pumped! I love NBA... This is the time of year that I keep a weell stocked fridge of Miller Lite so I can stay up and watch the 10:40 games after the wife and kids go to bed... As the winter/NBA season progresses, my work gets slower and slower so I can afford to stay up 'til 1:30 watching the west coast games and I can still get about 6+ hours of sleep.....:cheers2: Sully starting is perfect for Boston. That's why they're such a good franchise. They stole this guy with the 22nd? pick!!
OKC's first game without The Beard tonight against the Spurs at 9:30. My early prediction for the Thunder's season is that the Harden trade will have an affect on their regular season schedule; maybe pushing them back to be a two or three seed... But I don't think it'll hurt them in the playoffs after Kevin Martin has had time to adjust to being the #6, and a lack of depth can be overcome with a youthful core that can play a lot of minutes. I think Russell Westbrook has the potential to be a top 5 guy in the league this season. He has the explosion and scoring ability of Derrick Rose or Allen Iverson with absolutely none of the injury concerns, and is turning into a lock-down defender on the perimeter.
I agree with most of that... Early prediction for the Finals... Miami over Philly in the East Memphis over OKC in the West.. Miami over Memphis in the Finals in 5 games....
That is good stuff.. What the hell is World Peace doing in the picture?? He shouldn't even be a starter in the NBA, definetly not a star...
Matt Hayes @Matt_HayesSN From @seandeveney Mike Brown may be in trouble in LA. Mike Brown in trouble? Lakers president Jim Buss voices confidence, but questions loom - NBA - Sporting News …
I still wonder how Mike Brown got the job in the first place. Not that he's a terrible coach, I just don't like the fit... Especially for an organization with the kind of budget LA has. Mike definitely feels more like an eastern conference coach to me.
FIFY I swear I was going to post yesterday that I can't believe that Mike Brown got that job.... I still don't understand why they would hire him...
I try to be nice... he's from Columbus. But yeah, when you have a starting five and head coach with the following names: Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, Pau Gassoul, Dwight Howard, Ron Artest with Mike Brown... two of these things are not like the others.
San Antonio Spurs sit 4 of top 5 scorers vs. Miami Heat - ESPN What are your guys' thoughts? I've been an NBA fan for 20 years now and have only made it to one game; I took my wife up to Cleveland (3 hour drive) and spent $75/seat to watch LeBron and the Cavs play the Spurs... Mike Brown didn't dress James for the game for "rest," and I believe Tony Parker was out with an injury. I still got to see Mo Williams lead the Cavs in a close win, and Manu hang something like 35. But I was certainly disappointed. The NBA is a star-driven league. Fans come for the stars. It isn't fair to the fan to expect him to pay full price for a partial product. I think this can be compared to a Broadway Show, where theater-goers are sometimes issued extra tickets or even refunds if an understudy performs in place of a celebrity actor.
Not a bad pre-season pick with Memphis Hollis... Whatcha think? Jury still out on Philly. If Bynum makes it back, they have a very solid team... The Lakers are a mess right now...
That Memphis pick is looking strong. I think OKC will get them in a seven-game series though. Lakers are bad, but I think they'll put it together when Steve Nash gets back. I don't see them getting passed OKC, San Antonio or Memphis in the playoffs though... So they better turn things around quickly or they'll be seeing one of those teams in the first round.
I just saw this... I understand the frustration by the fans but David Stern blew it out of porportion because it was a game against the Heat on national TV... I follow the NBA closely, and I know you do to hollis, Popavich has done this once or twice every year for the past 4 or 5 seasons and it never makes the headlines.. As a fan though, I would be upset. I've never had that happen to me at an NBA game, but I went to a Reds game (2008?) once and it was a day game before a travel day and the Reds only played about 3 regulars and it really pissed me off. They sat Ken Griffey Jr, Brandan Phillips, Jay Bruce, Joey Votto, etc... They still won but it pissed me off...
