I keep hearing from media people how LSU is a traditional power and even a top 5 job and I just don't see it. Yeah they're in the SEC, have a great home field advantage and play in a state with great high school football but what have they accomplished to put them in that category? Before Saban they were an average program.
Recent success has inflated their sense of self worth. They're a great job none-the-less. I would rather go after a Tom Herman than try to lure Jimbo Fisher though. I wouldn't want Jimbo at all TBH unless he was a last option. I just don't care for the guy.
Tom Herman is close to being named the next coach at #LSU, multiple sources told https://t.co/XBNn1eMJ5K Thursday.https://t.co/bvJJ2lOWaB— Chip Brown (@ChipBrown247) November 25, 2016
I hope its LSU...we would have a shot at him down the road with the Tigers...with Texas it would be a no shot.
I have seen this before.............leveraging LSU to get the job he really wants........... Texas makes more sense..............conference is easier to dominate..............he has Texas roots..................just makes sense..........
I would say even an average coach can have success at Texas.. but somehow that hasn't been the case with Strong who I actually really liked when he got the job, loved what he did with Louisville. Texas is easily one of the top 3 jobs in the country, though it may be more objective than that. He'll have instant success down there.
He'll have instant success where ever he goes. He's amazing at putting players in the right places to succeed & building off of that.
My column on Tom Herman, LSU and Texas. Could the trajectory of two blue bloods be linked to Thanksgiving 2016? https://t.co/S27ruhwG1p— Pete Thamel (@PeteThamel) November 25, 2016
