It's official. After lots of rumors of him leaving, he has officially left TSUN. Message board rumors are saying that he is considering tOSU. His younger brother Zach is a senior at Pickerington Central and is considering tOSU and TSUN. The Boren's dad also played at TSUN, though it was reported that Boren's Dad grew up a tOSU fan but never received an offer so accepted a schollie to play at TSUN for Bo. This will be very interesting as this story develops.
He was basically the anchor of their O-line. UM fans on other boards are whining about this one. Of course when asked about it, RR used the same line: "I only talk about the guys who play for Michigan"
Ok so now they have lost the top 3 linemen on an offense that still gave up 4 sacks to the Buckeyes in Ann Arbor last year & could lose 4. I wonder how patient the fans up north will be when Dick Rod has a repeat of his first year at West Virginia? He went 3-8. I am guessing that 3-9 or 4-8 will have some people wanting his head, especially if they lose to Northwestern at home and Michigan State at home. I just wonder if they'll have more leave after this season.
He was pretty much their best OL returning this year. I seriously doubt Dick Rod last's long there. TSUN will lose to Sparty this year, they have a pretty decent team this year.
Quotes from Justin Boren...... Angelique S. Chengelis / The Detroit News Offensive lineman Justin Boren received his release papers from the Michigan football team and issued a statement regarding his departure from the Wolverines. Boren, the Wolverines' most experienced returning lineman, left the team on Monday, a day before the team's fifth spring practice under new coach Rich Rodriguez. "I regret leaving behind my friends and teammates, but I need to stand up for what I know is right," Boren said in a statement released Wednesday afternoon. "I wore the winged helmet with pride, whether we won or lost, whether things were going well or times were tough. "Michigan football was a family, built on mutual respect and support for each other from (former) Coach (Lloyd) Carr on down. We knew it took the entire family, a team effort, and we all worked together. I have great trouble accepting that those family values have eroded in just a few months. That same helmet, that I was raised on and proudly claimed for the last two years, now brings a completely different emotion to me, one that interferes with practicing and playing my best and mentally preparing for what is required. "That I am unable to perform under these circumstances at the level I expect of myself, and my teammates and Michigan fans deserve, is why I have made the decision to leave. To those of you outside the program, the loyal Michigan fans and alumni, I know you will have trouble understanding, but I do want to thank you for your years of support. I wish my teammates the best and will always be proud to have been a part of Michigan football over the past two years."
I agree. D'Antonio is running a finely honed machine & is beating the Wolverines in in-state recruiting. He could make a push for #2 or #3 in the Big Ten this year. We'll see who's little brother this year. Also, I don't think that article could've stung much more. He didn't have any bitterness. It was all disappointment. He basically said that Dick Rod was letting them down.
I think by the time they see Sparty, they have at least 3 losses. They have to play Wisconsin & then Illinois in back-to-back weeks before Toledo then PSU. I would wager that they could come to Columbus already bowl ineligible or losing to us could put them out. I think at the end of the year, Florida State will have the longest consecutive bowl appearance streak.
Quotes from Mike Boren, Justin's Dad and a TSUN football Alum...... "Ohio State would be a good fit for Justin, and that's why he's not at Michigan anymore, because Michigan is not the right fit for him," said Mike Boren, who played under Bo Schembechler in the early 1980s. "I have not talked to Ohio State and I'm not sure about their situation. … But would he go to Ohio State? Yes. The only two schools he seriously considered three years ago were Ohio State and Michigan, and he almost went to Ohio State even then." "Three years ago, if I had seen in a crystal ball that the whole coaching staff was going to change halfway through his career, I would have never let Justin go to Michigan. I would have told him to go to Ohio State," Mike Boren said. "I'm disappointed and I'm hurt because my wife and I both graduated from the University of Michigan. I didn't want this to happen; it's the last thing I wanted to happen. "But, basically, the bottom line is you have to look out for your kid and what is best for him."
Well he'd have to sit out a year, but he'd play gaurd or center. Depends on where Brewster is playing.
Since he left now, he'll get to make '08 his year he sits out though. He'll still be able to participate in all other team functions, but not games. I remember Anthony Schlegel played in the Spring Game the year he had to sit out.
