vs OU was bad ponder this:::
Youngstown State was ripped by South Dakota State ( or was it North,East or West)40-7::Wyoming a 21-20 winner over Ohio U was ripped by Air Force 23-3.I realize that all teams will have an off day but still manage to win.In searching for reasons many viable options raise their ugly heads.Returning 19 starters is a good thing, but if these players are perhaps overated then it don't mean a hill of beans, not saying this is the case but it might just be true.We all look at OSU thru rose(scarlet) colored glasses and rightfully so.
The play calling on 'O'is too damn vanilla,ya can't make a lousy yard on 4th down several times is B.S.especially if ya run the 190 lb. TB up the gut.Our WR CAN NOT get any seperation most times (where was D.Posey yesterday?)our TE's caught 1 pass for 25 yards,oops1 why not go to them more?i'm still waiting to see a screen pass.a reverse or end around perhaps even a halfback pass.Dam anything except the obvious TB runnin up the gut.I truly believe that next sat.night we are in a world of trouble if this model-T offense continues. If Beanie plays and they keep feeding him the ball he might be gone after several carries.I look for (FWIW) USC to be at least 7pt. fav. perhaps more if Beanie can't play.
Not throwing in the towel just yet still think we can win if we can get an OC with some chutzpah.

I don't think we're overrated, we just need better offensive playcalling.

We're far from overrated. We were damn near flawless last week and just had one of those games against OU. You got to consider OU came to the game with a big chip on their shoulder just like every other Ohio team that comes to Columbus.

I think the offensive playcalling was just fine, our guys just didn't execute. You can't blame playcalling when the OL doesn't block and the WR's drop passes.

True, playcalling was purposefully vanilla, but execution was non-existent. Probably even surprised Tressel how bad the team was looking forward to USC. Defense got exposed again against the spread. Shame Heacock can't get his leather-helmut-era head out of his fertilizer shoot and freaking figure out that that soft zone BS ain't gonna work.

Spielman was correct in labeling this team a bunch of "pillow-fighters." Man, he'd make a great LBer's coach and future D-Coordintor at OSU.

I didn't like the way the coaches switched out the RBs. Mo Wells has no business taking a the ball up the gut on a 4th and 1.

I very nearly became violently ill during the third quarter of that truly awful performance against the Bobcats. :puke: and double :puke1: about sums it up.

Larry Wilson and Ray Small played well. Wilson especially. Every other member of this team should be running laps today in full pads. Then, while the team is running laps, the entire coaching staff should be running stadium stairs. What a truly crap performance. The entire coaching staff starting with Coach T at the top, embarrased this fine school. And the captains, where were you at in the second quarter when we needed some leadership.

I think this was a classic case of looking ahead & not playing this week's game.

One good thing to come out of the OU game-4 INTs by the D!!! We lacked that the last two years. We need to keep that up.

I did not like Mo Wells taking it up the gut on 4 and 1, in fact they played him too much. Then they get going with Boom and they take him out and our drive stalls.

However, and maybe I am being disilusional Buckeye fan here, I think the coaching staff has been holding back! Play calling, defensive schemes, etc. The first half the play calling was pretty conservative. Basically all screen passes, bubble screens, etc.

    I agree.
It really wasn't something they put all this thought into because of the fact that they weren't worried about OU. OSU is determined for a win against USC and that's all they had their minds on.

I am glad someone sees things the way I do. I am so sick of the doom and gloom two games into the season.
