2012 Ohio State Buckeye Football Game 8: #7 Ohio State (7-0, 3-0) vs Purdue (3-3, 0-2) 12:00 PM ET, October 20, 2012, ABC/ESPN2 Ohio Stadium, COLUMBUS, OH vs
Buckeyes are an early 18 point favorite at home.... That sounds like a lot to me, but this offense can put up points in a hurry and Purdue has been struggling to score lately...
I'm gonna go to this game. I think our defense finally heard the wake up bell and we start to see improvement on defense.
Expect Brax and the running backs to continue their excellence as we head into our third consecutive game against a bottom 3 B1G rush defense. Purdue allows 5 yards per carry and almost 200 yards per game on the ground.
I know he fumbled but I'd like to see Rod Smith get at least 10-12 carries in this game...I think that should be the ideal # for all three, Braxton, Hyde, Smith.
When you compare the above to our run offense... This season OSU is averaging 45.7 carries/gm, 263.6 ypg, 3.3 TD/gm and 5.8 ypc... In the last 2 games OSU is averaging 51 carries/gm, 342 ypg, 4.5 TD/gm, and 7.1 ypc... It's pretty obvious that continuing this rushing momentum will be the main objective of the offense on Saturday against Purdue... and our defense will hopefully have finally awakened and be able to put together a solid and complete game against Purdue... key things for Saturday... Offense: Continue recent success with running the ball against a weak run D Defense: same old same old... pressure the QB, maintain lane/man/zone discipline, good coverages, wrap up and gang tackle.
We need to win this one big. Otherwise the haters will probably drop us out of the college football discussion altogether, as it seems they have been doing a pretty good job of already. Tired of hearing about the SEC and the BIG 12.
I think critics outside of Columbus have been pretty favorable to us this season. How many of us here really think this is the #7 team in the country? Before the season I saw this game as a possible loss... I'm much more confident right now. I want to see our young linebackers in there... Even if Boren is the better option right now. I'm hoping (as I'm sure Urban is too) that Boren's switching over and stealing a starting spot can motivate some of these guys to have a good week of practice.
From what I heard, last week (Tuesday) in practice Josh Perry and Cam Williams were injured, as was Shazier, so Meyer let Boren get some reps over there because Perkins and Marcus (& Roberts) aren't ready to play the position... They didn't have enough bodies to even practice last week... I too would love to see Josh Perry or Cam Williams get the PT for the rest of the time that 'Bino is out to start preparing us for the future at that critical position...
off subject but sweet ass pic block o, i dont think well see zach as much this week at lb if we can score on offense like we have and we can make a couple early stops and jump out to a nice big lead and show Meyes our defense can hold the lead
I'd like to see the defense hold Purdue to under 20 points this game. I think thats fair and manageable, no?
