I want to wait and see what the injury situation looks like on say Wednesday/Thursday before my final word, but my preliminary guess:

Calling for rain and that could be a factor for the game plan. If anything I think it would help ohio state. Martinez has a tendency to throw bad balls.

Bell isnt coming to any games this year...Tentatively scheduled for December...not a good sign....I think it will be something like 34-27 good guys

I feel confident our defense will be okay. When I look at our early season issues, a lot of our struggles came from underneath passes and tackling in space. If Fickell and Withers can continue to count on our corners to press, I have no worries about Martinez beating us with the 10-20yard passing game MSU had limited success with. If I'm Fickell, I encourage Martinez to try to find his receivers over the top of the press coverage, and count on him misreading the safeties and/or flat-out throwing ducks.

I respect Burkhead a lot, but after the way this d-line shut down Bell, I'm confident there too.

Agree..

The only difference is against Nebraska you have to honor the run from Martinez and Burkhead instead of zeroing in on Bell against Sparty...

The Silver Bullets get it done in the end though.....

I don't have tickets but I'm going to take my son up for his first Skull Session. We'll probably miss the first quarter and a half getting home, but it's oh so worth it.

Pelini Answers Questions on Ohio State

From 1987-90, Bo Pelini was a hard-nosed safety for the Buckeyes. A product of Youngstown Cardinal Mooney High School in Ohio, Pelini was a co-captain as a senior and a two-year starter under former Ohio State head coach John Cooper.

Now Pelini will return to Columbus for his first big game in Ohio Stadium as the head football coach at the University of Nebraska. Pelini took some time this week to talk about the Buckeyes, Urban Meyer, and returning to his alma mater.

Q. What have you seen from Ohio Stateâ€™s offense?

Pelini: I think there are a lot of similarities from when (Urban Meyer) was at Florida. They have a different style of runner at the quarterback position, so we'll see some different plays. There are a lot of similarities there, too. He had success with it at Florida, so why wouldn't he have success at Ohio State. It makes sense.

Q. Any comparison between Braxton Miller and Tim Tebow, who you faced at LSU?

Pelini: Obviously you see some similar plays, but Tebow's a 240-pound guy. Braxton Miller is like a tailback back there. He's elusive and he makes a lot of people miss. Tebow is going to run over you. Braxton is going to make you miss. Obviously there are some different plays that lend to each of those guys' talents, but they're both very effective and very dangerous in their own way."

Q. Anything going through your mind because youâ€™re is heading back to Columbus, Ohio?

Pelini: No. Why would it? I'm in a different time in my life and a different place. I have a job to do and that's all I'm concerned with.

Q. When was the last time youâ€™ve been to that stadium for a game?

Pelini: I don't know. It was a long, long time ago.

Q. Anything different with the way that stadium is set up?

Pelini: It's a great venue. It's a great environment. You guys have to make your own judgments. It's a great environment with great tradition. It will be a great place for our kids to play. It will be a great experience for our players.

ESPN -lineup the recruits

Saturday’s home game against Nebraska isn’t just a chance to impress the pollsters as much as it is an opportunity to grab the attention of some of the biggest recruits for Ohio State.

The list for the primetime game against the Cornhuskers reads like a who’s who of candidates for the Buckeyes starting with former Penn State commit Dorian Johnson (Belle Vernon, Pa./Belle Vernon). No. 27 in the ESPN 150, the second-ranked offensive tackle leads the list of headliners planning to attend and is followed by James Quick (Louisville, Ky./Trinity) at wide receiver.

Both have Ohio State in their top three. Johnson rounds out his list with Pitt and Virginia Tech, while Quick (No. 57) comes in with Louisville and Oregon.

The list of uncommitted senior unofficial visits continues with defensive tackle Donovan Munger (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Shaker Heights), the No. 281 player in the ESPN 300, and linebacker Christopher Worley (Cleveland, Ohio/Glenville). Both are considered heavy Ohio State leans. Athlete Ryan Timmons (Frankfort, Ky./Franklin County) is also expected to be in attendance.

THE COMMITS: The unofficial visits aren’t limited to just uncommitted seniors as the ESPN 300 is well represented by Ohio State commits beginning with No. 7 Eli Woodard (Voorhees, N.J./Eastern), No. 19 Cam Burrows (Trotwood, Ohio/Trotwood), No. 45 Joey Bosa (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas), No. 98 Jalin Marshall (Toledo, Ohio/Central Catholic), No. 145 Evan Lisle (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville), No. 175 Ezekiel Elliott (St. Louis/John Burroughs), No. 209 Billy Price (Youngstown, Ohio/Austintown Fitch), No. 212 Jayme Thompson and ending with Tracy Sprinkle (Elyria, Ohio/Elyria).

THE NEXT BATCH: The junior class has some heavy hitters headed to Columbus on Saturday as well with teammates Marcelys Jones (Cleveland, Ohio/Glenville) and Marshon Lattimore expected in attendance. The Glenville duo should be joined by ESPN Watch List juniors Todd Kelly Jr. (Knoxville, Tenn./Webb School of Knoxville) and DeShone Kizer (Toledo, Ohio/Central Catholic). Tinashe Bere (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore), Dareian Watkins (Galion, Ohio/Galion), Brian Allen (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central) and teammate Ian Bunting are also planning on attending.

THE ROUND BALL AS WELL: The list of recruits includes hoops prospects as well, as Thad Matta has ESPN 100 center BeeJay Anya (Gaithersburg, Md./DeMatha Catholic), ESPN 100 small forward Ishmail Wainright (Raytown, Mo./Montrose Christian) and senior power forward Nigel Hayes (Toledo, Ohio/Whitmer) scheduled to make the trip to Columbus.

SHINE ON: With 20 touchdowns, Elliott isn’t the only one putting up Tecmo Bowl type numbers this season as J.T. Barrett (Wichita Falls, Texas/Rider) and Sprinkle are having incredible seasons as well. Barrett has unofficially gone 36 of 67 for 723 yards with five touchdowns in four games. He’s rushed 84 times for 524 yards and has added six touchdowns. Through six games, Sprinkle has recorded 59 tackles, 11 sacks, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and 23 quarterback pressures.

WHERE WE’RE GOING: Friday is as set in stone as two-second old concrete. BuckeyeNation will definitely be at the Austintown Fitch-Massillon game to watch Price take on Michigan commit Gareon Conley, Cincinnati commit Kyle Kempt and Buckeyes targets Marcus Whitfield and Nathaniel Devers for Massillon. After that it’s a toss-up between St. Xavier-La Salle, Hilliard Darby-Westerville South or Bishop Luers-Bishop Hartley.

ESPN-STORYLINE FOR THE GAME

B1G battle: The Buckeyes made their case as the class of the conference by going on the road and beating their closest challenger in the polls. But that win will have a short shelf life if they don't back it up against the Huskers, who simply stepped up to replace Michigan State as the next team in line in the rankings after coming from behind to hold off Wisconsin last week. Ohio State obviously can't appear in the conference title game, but if it can get through its two-week stretch to open league play by knocking off consecutive contenders for that crown, it will have firmly established itself at the top of the food chain.

Familiar foe: Bo Pelini might not be in the mood for nostalgia, but there is no shortage of history for the Nebraska coach both with the opponent and the coach on the other sideline. Pelini is an Ohio State alum, for one, and his time on campus briefly overlapped with Urban Meyer when the latter was working as a graduate assistant for Earle Bruce -- the coach who recruited the former to play for the program. Meyer has also matched wits with the fellow Ohio native, having schemed against Pelini's defense at LSU when both were coaching in the SEC.

Trigger men: The quarterbacks aren't exactly mirror images, but there aren't many guys around the nation who could watch the other guy work and find so many similarities. Nebraska's Taylor Martinez isn't running as much as Braxton Miller so far this season, but he's just as dangerous when a play breaks down and he needs to make something happen with his feet. Miller perhaps hasn't been quite as efficient throwing the ball as Martinez early in the year, but he has delivered game-breaking passes seemingly every time the Buckeyes have needed it. There won't be many better matchups between multipurpose quarterbacks than the one at Ohio Stadium this week.

Eyes up front: At a minimum, the memory of a slow start on the Ohio State defensive line is starting to fade away. The way the Buckeyes shut down Michigan State and star rusher Le'Veon Bell a week ago, it might be totally forgotten. Injuries, some inexperienced backups and quick-passing offenses contributed to a lack of pressure and a few long runs allowed through the first few weeks of the season, but the Buckeyes appear to be getting stronger in the trenches as the season progresses. Getting Nathan Williams back to health at one end has obviously helped, and if Michael Bennett can shake a groin injury that kept him out of the first four games and slowed him against the Spartans, Ohio State could produce something worth remembering.

Give and take: The celebration hadn't even ended outside the Ohio State locker room last week when the coaches started offering a reminder to their quarterback about the importance of protecting the football. Turning it over three times isn't the best recipe for winning games in the Big Ten, even if the Buckeyes survived with Miller handing it over that often against the Spartans. Overall, Ohio State is still on the positive side this season with its turnover margin -- a place where the Huskers would certainly like to be. Through five games, they've lost nine fumbles and thrown two interceptions, and an opportunistic Buckeyes defense will be looking to add to that total.
