I'm glad the Bengals owner isn't giving in to Palmer's trade demands.

I understand it, but Palmer will retire.................he is not joking. I say in this situation you trade him for high value............there are plenty of teams in the NFL that will overpay for a proven veteran quarterback..........

ESPN The Magazine: Bengals last, Reds 15th in annual franchise rankings

    1:51 pm, Jun 15, 2011 | Written by jreedy | 165 Comments

Every year ESPN The Magazine ranks the “Best Franchises In Sports†feature. After placing 90th out of 122 teams last year, the Bengals are last (122nd) of all the teams in professional sports.
Subscribers to the magazine will receive the issue today and it will be on newsstands on Friday.
Franchises are given an overall ranking according to how much they give back to fans for the time, money and emotion they invest in them.
The Bengals rank last in three categories — fan relations (openness and consideration of players, coaches and management toward fans), players (effort on the court/field/ice and likeability off of it) and title track (championships won, or expected to be won, during the lifetime of current fans).
The Packers were named the best franchise followed by followed by the NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightning, New Orleans Saints, MLB’s Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and the NBA’s San Antonio Spurs.
    The Reds are ranked 15th.
“The best teams in sports find ways to reward their fans’ devotion,†said ESPN The Magazine editor, Peter Keating. “The teams at the top of our Ultimate Standings are winners on the field, but, as we write in the magazine, they’re truly notable for returning fans’ love—keeping core players, discounting tickets, investing in their communities. Value, both economic and emotional, has always figured prominently in our rankings, but this year we heard louder than ever that a team’s commitment to its fans matters more than anything else, more than even new stadiums and championship rings.â€

I find it very hard to believe that the Bengals are the worst 'fan franchise' in sports. I realize they aren't at the top of the list, but no way they are last. Don't they sell out most/all of their home games? They've had some success recently, hell they went 6-0 in the AFC North just a couple seasons ago. I understand them being towards the bottom, but not below the Detroit Lions or the Jacksonville Jaguars. The only reason I say Jax, is because they don't drawl any attendance.

The Packers at the top makes sense to me because Green Bay has a population of just 100,000. That organization is huge to that community and fan-base, kinda like Nebraska is in Lincoln. Tampa Bay Lightning 2nd?

i am not a lions fan but the lions have probably been the top team in the last two drafts. i would rank the lions way ahead of the bengals.

I am a Packers fan but I have been saying that the Lions are my sleeper to win the Super Bowl this year. I know it sounds crazy! It does to me too. But if Stafford stays healthy, the lions remind me a lot of the Saints. They will be explosive on offense and have a top 10 defense. Jim Schwartz has really impressed me as a coach.

You shouldn't post at 5:59AM. When you're not wide awake you can say some goofy things. I think Detroit will be better but the Super Bowl? That's crazy talk. I do think they can wil 8-10 games if everything goes right. They do have my boy Bobby Carp, so I am rooting for the 8-milers.

No. There looked to be about 50 ppl there when they played the Browns in December.

This is what happens when your entire franchise is a carbon copy of the Browns

We did sell out for a pretty good amount of time until last year, but there were quite a few games that the remaining 1-2 thousand tickets were bought by a player or local business so the game would be broadcasted on television.

Never mind trying to get a couple of draft picks for Carson... Lets prove a point :twitch:

I don't know how Bengal fans can handle it. Sometimes it feels like Brown has no interest in actually winning.

Think it's pretty funny what Mike Brown's doing, actually.

I want return for Palmer, but there's no rush to trade him if we're just getting draft picks.. get rid of him AFTER this season, let him get closer to the end of his contract.

Well if you can trade him after the season then it makes perfect sense. At least then you know exactly what all the draft positions are.

But, I doubt Carson will "come out of retirement" before the draft. And I doubt teams will trade for a player that may or may not come back to football (assuming you can even trade the rights to a retired player). So in essence, the Bengals are delaying the trade one year to prove their point. Why not get value back ASAP?

I also love how owners feel betrayed if a player wants our of their contract, but at the same time players are being cut left and right.

This was said on the same day that Todd Heap, McGaKnee, and Derrik Mason were cut from one team. It isn't a Bengal problem so much as NFL in general. Not that the NBA guaranteed contract is a better situation though... Maybe it's just pick your poison.
