Defensive line coach LARRY JOHNSON slid into the seat at this point. Johnson on overall play of his defensive linemen against PSU: “I thought the kids played really fast, attacked the line of scrimmage.” Johnson on DT Tommy Schutt: “He played so well with that cast on his (right wrist and hand. He had surgery Sunday, and will be out couple weeks).” Johnson said moving DE Joey Bosa around has been “getting him some one-on-one matchups” and that they try to find an offensive lineman to match him against from week to week. “That’s part of the game now, trying to find that matchup.” Johnson on DT Adolphus Washington: “Really starting to raise the bar and make himself into a great player … and as a leader.” Johnson on trying to throttle the run this week at Rutgers after Buckeyes gave up almost 200 to PSU: “Going into this game we have to make them one dimensional.” Johnson, former long-time assistant at Penn State, on what it’s meant to beat the Nittany Lions in his first two years at OSU: “The last two years I’ve felt very good after the games.” Johnson on the development of DE Sam Hubbard: “He’s just starting to be what he can be down the road … What a great surprise for us.”

Entering his third year at Ohio State, Larry Johnson knows who he has to replace on the DL. He likes what he sees. https://t.co/SBkYCybZoq— Eleven Warriors (@11W) May 27, 2016

Larry Johnson Updates + It's always loud like that at Penn State for a White Out. + How do you move past a loss? "You have to." He moves on right away because coaches have to do that for their players. Have to get back to teaching. + This was a difficult game for him to evaluate because they played well up front except for a couple of drives. There are always three components to a loss, it's not just the offense, or defense, or special teams. The entire team gets the 'L'. + Northwestern has an outstanding running back, a good quarterback, and great route runners at receiver. "We've got our hands full." + Ohio State is "no longer a young football team." + It's always upsetting to lose. You don't sleep well afterward, but the sun comes up in the morning. + You play all the plays over in your mind after a loss because you want your players to be successful the next time out. + The 2014 season gives this team perspective and the realization that one loss doesn't end the goals.
