2025 tight end heading to OSU opener
Though he’s in the 2024 class, current Ohio State quarterback commit Dylan Raiola may be one of the best players nationally regardless of position. The No. 1 ranked player in the country per the 247Sports Composite, Raiola may be the lone member of the 2024 class right now, but the amount of recruiting he’s doing and will continue to do to build the class around him isn’t going to be taken lightly.

Most of the players he will go after are obviously going to be top national names, but in this regard, he can stay pretty close to home. Fellow teammate of Raiola, 2025 tight end target Bear Tenney, is a 6-foot-5, 230-pound sophomore and fits the bill perfectly of a Power 5 tight end prospect already.

Having an Ohio State offer to his name, the good news is that Tenney plans to be one of the many recruits on campus for the Notre Dame game just over a week away. A big visit to say the least, knowing the travel expenses will be on Tenney’s family as this trip is an unofficial visit, the trek from Arizona clearly shows his interest in the Buckeyes. At a position of need every cycle, Kevin Wilson will be taking his time in showing Tenney all that the program has to offer.

Unranked right now due to his class status, with several other offers from the likes of Oregon, Georgia, Tennessee, Arizona, Wisconsin and more under his belt already, it won’t be a shock to see Tenney near the top of the rankings for his position group. With his current quarterback already committed to the Buckeyes, odds are Tenney is going to be hearing a lot about Ohio State. His upcoming visit looks to be just the beginning of what should be a name worth watching moving forward.

Not only does he have one of the best names in the entire recruiting industry, but Arizona prospect Bear Tenney is emerging as a priority tight end target for Ohio State in the 2025 recruiting class.

Tenney picked up his OSU offer from Kevin Wilson and Ryan Day on June 28, then made his first gameday visit on Sept. 3 for the Notre Dame game.

“It was the loudest atmosphere I’ve ever been in,” Tenney told Eleven Warriors. “I got to go into the locker room afterward.”

While in attendance for the Buckeyes’ season-opening win, Tenney watched as Cade Stover was moved around all over the field and caught three passes for 14 yards.

“I loved how Ohio State used their tight end in the offense,” Tenney said. “They had him playing everywhere, in the slot, outside running routes or hand in the dirt. They really utilized him.”

The 6-foot-5, 226-pound Tenney said he appreciated the Buckeyes’ hospitality shown on the visit and had a chance to continue to expand his relationship with the Ohio State staff.

“Coach Kevin Wilson and coach Justin Frye were awesome and kept checking in with me and my family,” Tenney said. “They made a great impression on us. I can really tell they want me to be a part of their program.”

Tenney has wracked up 18 Division I offers, including Wisconsin, Washington, Arizona, Arizona State, Arkansas, BYU, Colorado, Georgia, Louisville, Michigan State, Oregon, Tennessee and Utah, among others.

BEAR TENNEY PUTS OHIO STATE IN TOP 12
If you’re wondering if we’re only writing about 2025 tight ends in this Hurry-Up – well, you’re damn straight we are.

Ohio State 2025 tight end target Bear Tenney put out a top 12 list on Monday consisting of Ohio State, Auburn, Colorado, Michigan, Georgia, LSU, Oregon, Penn State, Tennessee, Texas, Utah and USC. Tenney, the high school teammate of OSU 2024 linebacker commit Payton Pierce, also said his commitment was coming “soon.”

Ohio State offered Tenney in June of 2022 and attended the Buckeyes’ season-opening win against Notre Dame.

“I loved how Ohio State used their tight end in the offense,” Tenney said after the visit. “They had him playing everywhere, in the slot, outside running routes or hand in the dirt. They really utilized him.”
