FOUR-STAR RODGERS GETS BUCKEYES OFFER
Four-star Florida wide receiver Bryson Rodgers also received an offer from Ohio State on Wednesday. OSU wide receivers coach Brian Hartline presented the offer.

The 6-foot-2, 170-pound Rodgers is the 295th-best prospect and the 40th-best wideout in the 2023 class. He has collected 26 Division I offers, including Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Iowa State, Miami, Michigan, Michigan State, Ole Miss, Oregon, Penn State, Virginia Tech and West Virginia.

In 10 games for Wiregrass Ranch High School (Zephyrhills, Florida) as a junior, Rodgers caught 42 passes for 645 yards with 14 receiving touchdowns.

Sticking with the receiver position, the Buckeyes made their presence known in the Sunshine State again, as they usually do on the recruiting trail, when they offered another class of 2023 prospect yesterday. On the receiving end, Bryson Rodgers, a 6-foot-2, 170 pound athlete, was the next in line to hear from Ohio State.

Another under the radar target, Rodgers is the 40th-best receiver in the class and the No. 295 player nationally per the 247Sports Composite. Like the aforementioned Hanafin, Rodgers’ offer list alone should give Buckeye fans a clear insight to why this prospect was due for an offer. Nearly 30 schools have already entered his recruitment, and with programs such as Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Oregon, and several more in the running, Ohio State wasn’t wasting any more time.

Hartline tends to have his pick of the crop when it comes to landing receivers, and Wednesday proves that he wants to broaden the search a bit as they look for the next great set of pass-catchers to continue the success in Columbus.

One of Ohio State’s priority wide receiver targets has locked in a spring visit to Columbus.

Florida four-star wide receiver Bryson Rodgers, who is originally from Warren, Ohio, announced on social media he will visit OSU on March 8.

When he spoke with Eleven Warriors earlier this month, Rodgers said his first priority for March was to take a trip to OSU. A few weeks later, the 6-foot-2, 170-pound wideout is honoring his word.

“Coach Hartline and my family talked about getting up there when they’re having spring practices so I can get the campus and facilities tour while also watching them live at practice,” Rodgers said earlier this month. “I'm getting everything I could ask for that way. That’s definitely something that’s been discussed and we’ll definitely be in Columbus this coming March.”

Visiting Ohio will be nothing new for Rodgers, who spends six to eight weeks every year visiting friends and family in Warren.

“I’m still an Ohio boy at heart,” Rodgers said. “I grew up an Ohio State fan and love watching Big Ten football. I love Ohio State considering the offense they run and the culture they have. What it means to be an Ohio State Buckeye is what I grew up on. I’ll always love ‘em, so I definitely grew up a fan.”

The visit will be his first to Ohio State since Rodgers received his offer on Jan. 26, when Brian Hartline stopped at Wiregrass Ranch High School (Zephyrhills, Florida) twice throughout the day and eventually presented the opportunity.

“It was a dream come true,” Rodgers said. “There's definitely a great bond between myself and coach Hartline. It’s amazing just getting to know him more and how he puts his players in the best position to succeed. He asked my offensive coordinator and my D-line coach questions about my character and the type of person that I am. He even talked to my family on FaceTime and he said ‘I was trying to find things not to like, and I couldn’t find them.’ Hearing that was awesome. He coached some great dudes all throughout the program and was a NFL wide receiver himself, so it’s like a dream come true and now I’m just taking it step-by-step.”

According to 247Sports’ composite rankings, Rodgers is ranked as the 306th-best prospect and the 41st-best wide receiver in the 2023 class. Lining up at both outside and slot receiver for Wiregrass Ranch last year, Rodgers caught 42 passes for 645 yards with 14 receiving touchdowns.

After Rodgers announced his visit plans, Ohio State’s newest peer recruiter was sure to encourage him to attend OSU in the future.

Four-star wide receiver Bryson Rodgers had been looking forward to his trip to Columbus for weeks.

Even though the 6-foot-2, 170-pound wideout currently resides in Florida, Rodgers is originally from Warren, Ohio, and grew up an Ohio State fan. On Tuesday, Warren attended OSU’s first practice of the spring and received a tour of the weight room, academic and athletic facilities.

“I loved it,” Rodgers told Eleven Warriors of his visit. “There’s a great culture there and a brotherhood-like atmosphere. In the practice I watched in the morning, coach Hartline was out there getting intense with the guys. He was really involved with every wide receiver, it was good to see.”

Rodgers and his family also got to walk inside Ohio Stadium for the first time, which he said was surreal.

“Just seeing that with my family was amazing,” he said.

While no commitment is imminent, Rodgers left Columbus with a significant impression: Ohio State is currently the leader in his recruitment.

“Definitely the top,” Rodgers said when asked where Ohio State ranks among his college options. “That’s a dream school. I’ve always loved Ohio State football. Now that I know a little bit about the inner workings of the program and what they do from an academic standpoint and learn the real personalities of the coaches, yeah man, it’s definitely at the top.”

Rodgers has been primarily recruited to Ohio State by wide receivers coach Brian Hartline, but he and his family got to meet Ryan Day for the first time on Tuesday.

“Coach Day said they’re recruiting me as hard as they are because they think I’m one of the best wide receivers in the country,” Rodgers said. “He said I had great character when coach Hartline came to see me, and told me he got to see that for himself when I was on campus. That means a lot coming from him. He also introduced himself to my family and told me he wanted me to come to Ohio State and explained how it could benefit me in the long run.”

Rodgers also met with Hartline before his visit concluded.

“He told me how much of an impact it would have on me learning from guys like Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Marvin Harrison Jr., just gaining knowledge from those types of guys,” Rodgers said. “The knowledge I’d get, he said it could be my best decision. That’s definitely something to look forward to, being in that type of wide receiver atmosphere. They have the best wideouts in the country. To see that live was a great thing to see.”

Rodgers will visit Florida and Georgia next week and is planning a commitment sometime in July. He said he will narrow his college choices down to four or five schools, then take official visits to each before making a decision. Ohio State will likely be one of the schools getting an official visit from Rodgers in the summer.

Rodgers is listed as the 308th-best prospect and the 41st-best wide receiver in 247Sports’ composite rankings for the 2023 class. For Rodgers, it will be his second visit to OSU this spring. The 6-foot-2, 170-pound wide receiver was one of OSU’s first spring visitors when took a trip to Columbus on March 9.

After his March visit, he said Ohio State was the leader in his recruitment. Although Rodgers currently resides in Florida, he’s from Warren, Ohio, originally, and grew up a Buckeyes fan. He plans on making a commitment later this summer.
