HARRISON OFFER MEANS LIKELY QUICK DECISION

As mentioned Friday, Ohio State – moving on after finding out they won't be landing Daelin Hayes – offered Walnut Ridge (Columbus) athlete Malik Harrison. Harrison, 6-foot-4 and 215 pounds, is a phenomenal athlete as the below video illustrates:

He's capable of playing multiple positions, but he's certain to get his first look at linebacker when he commits to the Buckeyes.

Since the summer, when Harrison was closely linked to Wisconsin and some thought he'd commit, the understanding is that he's been basically "waiting" to see what Ohio State would do. With the offer finally in hand, don't expect a long wait before Harrison, at least privately, informs the Buckeyes of his intention.

He's not talking about the offer yet, but it wouldn't surprise me if Harrison were to make an official visit to Ohio State this weekend and announce his commitment either during that trip or shortly thereafter.

    MALIK HARRISON • OHIO ATHLETE★★★

So why is Jones becoming the primary option at linebacker? Because it appears that Walnut Ridge freak-athlete Malik Harrison wants to play wide receiver and that Buckeyes are absolutely taking a look at him on that side of the ball.

Harrison visited this weekend, as expected, but perhaps the single biggest piece of news that's emerged is his plan to visit Michigan State next weekend and Syracuse the week after which means a signing day decision is likely.

It's an interesting turn of events as Harrison–who waited for months for a Buckeyes' offer–now seems content to wait things out and risk a spot in the class. I've been told explicitly that Ohio State is not trying to hold him off or encouraging any delay and that they'd like him to make a decision whenever he's ready to do so.

The Columbus native has played things remarkably close to the vest and is smack-dab in the middle of basketball season so it's hard to get a real feel for what he's thinking. The people I've spoken to at Ohio State from this weekend don't seem to have a beat on what direction he's heading either so this one may be a bit more of a crapshoot than anyone ever believed it would be.

If Harrison wants to play wide receiver and wants to wait until signing day, then there becomes a question about a spot if, say–Binjimen Victor–decides he wants in at Ohio State before then.

HARRISON CANCELS REMAINING OFFICIALS, DECISION COMING?

Ohio State target Malik Harrison was set to take a pair of official visits before deciding on where he will be playing his college ball, but those trips – to Michigan State and Syracuse – have been canceled.

The 6-foot-4, 215-pound athlete was offered by the Buckeyes back in early September and the Columbus native made the short trip for an official visit last weekend. Ohio State has been recruiting Harrison as a linebacker, but he's expressed interest in playing wide receiver.

In speaking with Eleven Warriors, the Walnut Ridge star indicated that he is "just ready to make a decision." While no official announcement date has been set, initial reports had the three-star pegged to announce as early as this weekend. However, a national signing day declaration appears to be more likely.

Harrison has also taken official visits to Wisconsin and Indiana.

    6. Malik Harrison is going to be interesting to watch.
Urban Meyer always gives Luke Fickell credit for Darron Lee becoming a Buckeye because Fickell is the one who saw it. Well, to be fair, Lee saw it too, but even he gives credit to Fickell for making it all happen. So when Fickell keys in on another under-the-radar local jack-of-all-trades athlete, naturally everybody is going to be interested in what he can become, especially Meyer. At 6-foot-4 and 215 pounds, Harrison could end up as a pass catcher or a pass rusher, and anything in between. And as Meyer said on Wednesday, Ohio kids with good parents who want to be Buckeyes "usually turn out really well."
