• Dante Booker, OLB, and Parris Campbell, RB, Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary – The Irish improved to 12-0 by claiming a 35-7 win over Poland Seminary in the second round of OHSAA Division III play.

Top-seeded St. Vincent-St. Mary never trailed, taking a 14-0 halftime lead and cruising from there. Campbell rushed for a 17-yard touchdown in the victory and led the ground attack with 117 yards on 17 carries. Hooker added four tackles to aid the defensive effort.

The Irish, defending Division III champs, advance to the Region 7 final vs. No. 2 Hubbard (12-0) on Nov. 22. Fifth-seeded Poland Seminary ended its season 10-2.

Another Big Night For Parris.............Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary senior tailback Parris Campbell put on quite a show last weekend in leading his team to a 40-7 win over Hubbard in the Ohio playoffs. The Ohio State commit rushed for over 200 yards and scored on two long touchdown runs.

Campbell Caps Off Undefeated Season..............Buckeye pledge Parris Campbell capped off a second straight state championship on Thursday night. He had a terrific season and says he will live in the moment and enjoy their accomplishments.

 

• Dante Booker, OLB, and Parris Campbell, RB, Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary – A day after being named Ohio’s Mr. Football for the 2013 season, Booker helped lead the Fighting Irish to a second straight Ohio High School Athletic Association Division III title.

Booker recorded 4½ tackles – 1½ of which went for loss – and caught one pass for 44 yards in what was ultimately a 24-0 win over Trotwood-Madison.

“We’ve got a real special defense,†Booker said after the game. “We came in all week just trying to get that goose egg.â€

Campbell added 61 yards on the ground, while Akron commit Newman Williams rushed for 42 yards and two touchdowns.

“It means the world to me,†Campbell said of his second straight state title. “It means even more because of the guys I did it with. Going out, my senior season, undefeated with a second state championship, it can’t et any better than that.â€

This season: Campbell was a key offensive piece for the Irish during their repeat state championship season and 15-0 record. A threat to bust a big play every time he touched the ball, he rushed for 1,647 yards and 22 touchdowns on 186 carries.

You might not know: Campbell’s favorite food is his grandmother’s lasagna. “I try to eat it the night before every game,†he said.
