Ohio State offers elite 2018 back
Running back Ricky Slade (Woodbridge, Va./C.D. Hylton) picked up an offer from Ohio State, he tells 247Sports.

Slade picked up his first offer yesterday from Virginia and one from Virginia Tech earlier today. He was certainly excited about the offer that came from the Buckeyes this evening.

"I just got off the phone with Coach [Larry] Johnson," Slade said. "He told me how much they like me and asked me about the season. Then he offered me."

Slade continued, "It felt great and brought a lot of joy to my night. It's a great school. I like the way the coaches and players carry themselves. I also like how they use their running backs. I think I'll get back there for a visit soon."

The standout freshman back is a teammate of four-star Class of 2015 OT Matthew Burrell, who is also highly considering Ohio State. The two are close and the chance to play together at the next level means a lot to Slade.

"It would be great running behind him again," Slade said. "I'd love it. We would be doing what we always will!"

Tennessee offers elite 2018 Va. RB
    Nov 7, 7:36 AM
Freshman running back Ricky Slade of C.D. Hylton High School in Woodbridge, Va., posted on his Twitter account Friday morning that he has received a scholarship offer from Tennessee.

It was the eighth offer for the 5-foot-9, 170-pound Slade, who's expected to be one of the top running backs in the 2018 class. He also claims early offers from Ohio State, Clemson, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Maryland, Iowa and Syracuse.

All five predictions on the 247Sports Crystal Ball currently point to Ohio State as the favorite to land Slade.

SLADE HOPING TO SEE OHIO STATE THIS FALL
C.D Hylton (Woodbridge, Virginia) provided Ohio State freshman Matt Burrell in the 2015 class and, as we've discussed in the past, is the home of 2018 standout Ricky Slade, Jr. A 5-foot-9, 180-pound athlete, Slade has offers from a host of schools, including the Buckeyes, Florida, Michigan State, Clemson, South Carolina and others. He's one of the country's best prospects in his class and according to his father, Rick, it's been a pretty good summer.
"The summer was good, Ricky has been working hard," the elder Slade shared with Eleven Warriors."The rankings are nice but he's still got work to do and he knows it."
As far as Slade and the Buckeyes, a visit to Columbus this summer is likely, but as of now unplanned. Hylton assistant coach John Harris told 11W that he thinks a trip for the Penn State game on October 17th is a good bet.
"We've been talking about a visit," Harris said of his young star. "I'm hoping it will be for the Penn State game."

SLADE GOES OFF FOR CD HYLTON

After visiting Virginia Tech this past Monday night, 2018 running back Ricky Slade, Jr. took the weekend off and stayed home with his family rather than visiting any schools. Of course, just because he didn't travel anywhere doesn't mean he didn't take anyone else to school.

On Friday night the 5-foot-9, 175-pounder, who has a Buckeye offer, lit up Nokesville (Virginia) Patriot High School to the tune of four touchdowns and 214 yards – on only 11 carries.

That's a pretty good night, no? Slade will be at Ohio State on October 17th when the Buckeyes take on Penn State.

    BUCKEYES STILL MONITORING RICKY SLADE

Speaking of 2018 running backs, it's been a while since we've checked in on Woodbridge, Virginia's Ricky Slade.

The country's second-ranked 2018 all-purpose back, offered by Ohio State last year, has been staying busy in recruiting, including a recent trip to Penn State that made a big impact on the Slade family.

"The whole (Penn State) staff ate lunch with him and walked around the facilities," a source told 11W. "They made him and his dad feel welcome."

If you recall, Slade–from CD Hylton High School–is a former teammate of Ohio State redshirt freshman lineman Matt Burrell, who was very high on Penn State at one point in his recruiting process. The Buckeyes are hoping that relationship and Larry Johnson's impact can keep Slade looking in their direction.

"Dad loves Larry Johnson," the source added. "He and Matt are still very close. He wants to visit Columbus on a day that's not a junior day, he's aiming for a spring practice."
