Joshua Moore keeps Buckeyes on his list
One of the Buckeyes’ top targets at wide receiver in the class of 2018 has narrowed his list and, as expected, Ohio State is still alive and well in the hunt to land him.

That is IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) 4-star prospect Joshua Moore, who transferred to the Florida powerhouse from Yoakum, Texas, at the start of 2017. Moore has been a major priority for the Buckeyes and he says that they’ve not been shy about that with him or his family. That is part of the reason why Ohio State is still high on his list.

“Ohio State is a very successful program in both academics and athletics,” Moore told Land of 10. “That’s one of the main things that has caught my eye (about Ohio State). Another thing is the coaching staff, how much interest and love they show me as well as my parents.”

For the Buckeyes to be considered a serious contender in this race, though, Moore is going to have to make a trip to Columbus. He’s been talking about it for most of the last six months but to this point hasn’t been able to make it happen. He has made trips to Florida State, Georgia and Tennessee recently as part of an IMG tour. There is no bus trip to Ohio, but the nation’s 15th-ranked wide receiver insists a visit will happen soon.

“I talk to the Ohio State staff at least twice a week,” he said. “I plan on visiting this spring, but if not I definitely will be making it to Columbus this summer and in the fall also. I am going to Ohio State soon.”

ALL THE RIGHT REASONS

Bradenton, Florida, IMG Academy four-star wide receiver Joshua Moore is among the most sought-after prospects in the country, holding offers from more than 50 programs including Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Ohio State, Tennessee and Texas. But if you ask him who or what motivates him on a daily basis, it's not the media attention or the opportunity to play football at the next level.

It's the loss of his older brother, Quintin.

That's why Moore — the 15th-best receiver and No. 80 prospect overall — will honor his late brother by making his college announcement on June 18. It's not only Quintin's birthday but also the same day he tragically took his own life.

Having the pleasure of knowing Moore very well, this only speaks to his maturity and leaves no doubt to value he places on relationships. It's an awesome gesture and one that would certainly make his brother very proud.

In making the difficult transition back his recruitment, Moore recently included Ohio State in his Top 10. He hasn't been on campus yet or set a date for a visit, but the Buckeyes certainly have a chance to land him if he makes the trip prior to his announcement.

BOUND TO HAPPEN

The same could be said of IMG Academy four-star wide receiver Joshua Moore, who excluded Ohio State from his Top 7 on Saturday afternoon. He instead listed Alabama, Florida State, LSU, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas and Texas A&M.

The 6-foot-1, 156-pound Moore regularly talks with Meyer and wide receivers coach Zach Smith, but he plans to make his college decision on June 18, his late brother's birthday. The writing was on the wall, though, when he decided to visit Lincoln for the Cornhuskers' Spring Game rather than attend the Buckeyes' annual scrimmage.

Ohio State remains in the hunt for four-stars wide receiver Kamryn Babb, Brennan Eagles and Al'vonte Woodard, so Moore's decision isn't the end of the world when it comes to on-field talent. But he has been one of my favorite prospects to cover in this class, and I still look forward to seeing where he lands nonetheless.
