Texas star receives Buckeye offer The affinity Ohio State has for the state of Texas is no secret. Urban Meyer has had success in the Lone Star State and continuing relationships in Texas has helped him land several talented prospects in his tenure with the Buckeyes. Yesterday, the roots in Texas grew even deeper as it was announced via his twitter that BJ Foster (Angleton,Texas / Angleton HS)had received an offer from Ohio State. A two-way player, Foster has both running back and safety duties on Friday nights in the fall, but most likely projects as a defensive back at the next level. The 2018 4-star stands at 6 feet 1 inch, 188 pounds and already boasts a very impressive offer list. With 21 schools already throwing their hat into the ring, it's easy to see why Ohio State came calling. Schools on the list for Foster include Baylor, Texas, Arizona, Arizona State, Georgia, Michigan, Michigan State. As things currently stand, this Texas prospect is pegged to stay home and play for the Longhorns according to the 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions, but Ohio State and others certainly have time to compete for his services.

NEW 2018 OFFER Another new name is emerging for 2018. BJ Foster, an early five-star prospect in the 2018 class, is a running back and defensive back from Angleton, Texas. The offer from Ohio State is his 21st, and the country's 8th-ranked 2018 player is being recruited by the Buckeyes as an athlete who could line up at either safety or running back. Foster was named first team all-district as a sophomore at both tailback and defensive back. On offense, he averaged 10 yards per carry and scored 16 touchdowns.

While Michigan and Ohio State coaches are celebrating Thanksgiving, they’ll also celebrate being in the running for one of the nation’s best prospects. BJ Foster, a five-star running back in the class of 2018 out of Angleton, Texas, released his top five list of schools which includes the Wolverines and Buckeyes, along with TCU, LSU and Texas. Foster, who’s the top football prospect in the state of Texas, and the top running back prospect in the nation, according to 247 sports, also fielded offers from Michigan State and Nebraska. Michigan and Ohio State also beat out in-state schools Baylor and Texas A&M for the right to be in Foster’s top five. Ohio State and Michigan both have two commitments in the class of 2018 so far. The Buckeyes have commitments from a four-star quarterback and a four-star running back, while the Wolverines have commitments from a four-star safety and a four-star offensive lineman. A commitment from Foster would also be the first five-star commitment for either team since the 2016 recruiting class.

TEXAS TOM CAN'T MISS OUT ON THIS ONE Though he's never been on campus, Angleton, Texas, five-star safety B.J. Foster included Ohio State in his Top 5 in November alongside LSU, Michigan, Texas and TCU. He hadn't elaborated on why the Buckeyes made the cut — until now. “The coaches are great,” Foster told Eleven Warriors, mentioning Meyer, offensive line coach Greg Studrawa and defensive coordinator Greg Schiano specifically. The 6-foot-1, 188-pounder is considered the top-rated safety and the No. 9 prospect overall in the Class of 2018. He was limited to five games as a junior due to a knee injury, but showed tremendous range and athleticism at the safety position. “We always talk on the phone, and when I got hurt, they were the first to call and give me a little motivation," Foster said. Foster hopes to make his first trip to Columbus this summer for Friday Night Lights and then return for an official visit this fall.

BJ Foster includes Buckeyes in final five, decision soon? Before an ACL injury last October, there may have been no safety prospect in the country more coveted than Angleton, Texas, 5-star recruit BJ Foster. Though he’s been unable to compete on the combine circuit, Foster has remained one of the highest-regarded players in the class. On Monday, he announced he was ready to make a college decision, including Ohio State among his final five schools. Unfortunately, Foster has not been able to visit Columbus yet and that makes it almost impossible to believe he’s going to choose Ohio State on June 5. The nation’s No. 1-ranked safety is likely to stay home and pick the Texas Longhorns.
