Xavier Thomas has big day, talks Buckeyes One of only six underclassmen at The Opening, Florence (S.C.) defensive lineman Xavier Thomas continues to be impress with his game and frame. He doesn’t look like your typical rising junior and is a well-built 6-foot-3, 240-pounds. Ohio State received a visit from Thomas earlier this year, but right now it’s South Carolina and Clemson that are the most likely teams to land a commitment from the 2018 5-star prospect. Still, Ohio State is on his mind and has been since his March 29 visit. “If you watch the (NFL) Draft, they have the most draft picks, that really stood out to me,” Thomas told Landof10. “(Larry) Johnson, I’m very close to him also. He talks to me about Joey Bosa and how can I come in and be just as impactful as he was.” With recruiting already very much underway, Thomas is looking to narrow down his list soon. He’s also hoping still to return to Ohio State this summer. “I’m planning on releasing my top four at the end of The Opening,” he said. “I’m planning on taking a couple more visits, I’m just not sure yet. I’m trying to set a date (to return to Ohio State), since they’re so far down the road. That’s 10 hours away from my home, so that’s the only thing about them. I’m going to try and get to a game there and experience their crowd, they’ve got a pretty big stadium. I’m just seeing how this season goes.” Thomas isn’t sure where he’s headed yet, but he knows when he’s looking to make a decision. “I’m probably going to commit at the end of my junior season,” he added.
