We got who we wanted out of there though. We usually had better national prospects than what they had. Mo is like Ginn of SW Ohio. I think this kid will be a Buckeye. Mo's kid is a nice prospect too if he continues to grow he'll be a Buckeye too.

LEONARD TAYLOR STAYING IN TOUCH WITH OHIO STATE

When 2018 defensive lineman Leonard Taylor committed to Michigan on April 1st, it was kind of a surprise. After all, Taylor is the nephew of a former Ohio State captain, who is from Ohio, who has a Buckeye offer two years before he can sign a letter of intent — that's not the situation Ohio State loses historically and certainly not the kind they lose right now, when the program is at the peak of college football.

The questions about what happens "next" with Taylor started immediately, and while it was not a huge surprise that he showed up for the Buckeyes' spring game two weeks later, it was a bit unexpected that he donned all Ohio State gear two weeks after committing to Michigan.

Since the visit to Ohio State in mid-April, Taylor has laid relatively low but there's been, according to sources on both sides, a couple of phone calls between the two parties and it seems that the Buckeyes are going to keep themselves in the mix here, even if they're playing from the trail position.

I can't say why Taylor decided to commit to Michigan, because for a Top 20 player in the 2018 class to commit anywhere this early doesn't make a lot of sense, but there is going to continue to be communication and visits taking place here.

There's a long way to go until signing day 2018...a long way.

Michigan 4-star DT still thinks about being a Buckeye

With the 2017 recruiting class filling up quickly, Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes' recruiting staff are already hard at work for the 2018 class.

Leonard Taylor (Springfield, Ohio / Springfield) committed to Ohio State's arch rival, Michigan, during the program's spring game on April 1. However, he has been vocal that he is still being heavily recruited by multiple schools, and with two years of high school football left, he is considering all of his options.

One of those options happens to be Ohio State. Taylor has been in Columbus a couple of times recently, including a visit to the Buckeyes' spring game, and as a participant the The Opening regional camp in Columbus, last weekend. Already seen as a four-star prospect by 247Sports, Taylor spoke to 247Sports at the camp and said that he was impressed by the Buckeyes' recent draft class, and that the program's proven success will definitely be a factor down the stretch.

The 6 foot 6 inch, 258-pound defensive linemen also mentioned Meyer keeps in constant contact with him. Taylor's commitment to the Wolverines is far from solid, and expect Ohio State to continue recruiting the homegrown talent up until National Signing Day 2018. The offer from Ohio State is a special one to the top 25 overall recruit of his class, as he said that he still thinks about being a Buckeye every day.

    INSIDE TRACK FOR MICHIGAN COMMIT

In what should only be described as a soft verbal pledge, Springfield tight end Leonard Taylor committed to Michigan at its spring game in April. The 6-foot-6, 258-pounder then showed up to Ohio State's spring game just two weeks later decked out in scarlet and gray.

The prevailing thought is that the 2018 prospect ultimately flips to Ohio State when he announces his final decision sometime during his senior year. In the meantime, he told 247Sports that he will take several unofficial visits this fall.

“I'm going to go to Ohio State when they play Indiana,” Taylor said. “I'm going to Penn State-Ohio State. I'm going to Notre Dame-Michigan State. And, I'm going to Michigan-Ohio State. I'm going to try to get a game at Tennessee, too.”

Taylor — whose uncle Ormonde Ricketts was a captain for the Buckeyes under legendary coach Woody Hayes — was scheduled to attend Ohio State's Friday Night Lights camp last month, but ran into some issues that prevented that from happening. Getting him on campus for a pair of games this fall only adds to the likelihood that he'll play his college ball in Columbus.
